That is the hard truth...all of them lack the immediate "presence" of the individuals you mentioned. No one does to be honest. If they do, they are elsewhere [re: Jackson, Cuban, Popovich, Riley...]. The Buss duo and Kupchak have to work that much harder to be convincing.
Right now I'd take Javale McGee and KJ McDaniels and call it a day. Why? Two reasons: 1) Both are shot blocking machines. 2) Both are electrifying high risers, and would at least be entertaining to watch, and keep butts in seats. With Randle, McGee, McDaniels, Upshaw, Nance and Clarkston we'd be one of the most athletic teams in the NBA. PG-Russell/? SG- Clarkston/Swaggy SF- Bryant/McDaniels/Swaggy PF- Randle/Nance/Kelly C- McGee/Black/Upshaw That is a team full of young studs that I'd have no problem getting behind and watching grow.
Amazed we haven't made a move yet. Its not that I even want a splash or names, I just want to see some sort of plan start to be carried out.
How about 7-8 million at Koufos/Mcgee, 5 millions at KJ Mcdaniel, 7 Millions at Jordan Hill and 3-4 Millions at Derrick Williams, sign vet PG with Low MLE and call it a day?

Can't believe there's actually an argument comparing the Knicks and Lakers. Knicks are a playoff team even if they get nothing out of Porzingis this year. They will have a strong defense, actually put pieces around Melo, and have strung together a starting lineup (yeah, they still need a pg) that will appeal to a FA next year. We've done nothing and have two NBA players on our roster right now -- Kobe and Swaggy.
