I understand and respect your position. I'll try to be very clear about where I see DJ among the FAs this season: DeAndre Jordan is the best available 2015-16 FA, bar none. 1. He's an iron man. He doesn't miss games. 2. He plays heavy minutes; there are many bigs who can't do what he does in terms of minutes. 3. He's 26 years old. 4. His DRtg was best on his team (98) and better than Blake (106), Paul (105), Barnes (107), and Redick (111) by far. 5. His ORtg was 126, tied for best on the team with Paul. That +28 differential was the best on the team by far. CP3 was +21. After that no one had better than +7 (except for Lester Hudson in 56 minutes). 6. His 7.4 Offensive Win Shares were better than everyone on the team except Paul. 7. His Defensive Win Shares were best on the team. 8. His 12.8 Win Shares were second best, behind Paul. 9. His BPM and VORP were second best on the team. 10. His defense 11. He has never shot worse than 60.5% in the NBA, no matter who was passing to him (including a physicall broken Baron Davis). 12. He has led the league in FG% and eFG% the past three seasons. 13. He has led the league in defensive total rebounds the past two seasons. 14. He just made the All-NBA third team. 15. He just made the All-NBA Defensive 1st team. The Clippers will be an average team without him. I don't know who they'll sign to replace him, but I bet they don't win more than 51 games next season. Among FAs... 1. There's not a player who makes an impact on either side of the ball like he does on defense. 2. There are very few who on the weaker side of their game are absolutely elite at one thing (for him it's his ability to catch and finish). (In this regard I liken him to Chris Paul who has elite offense and is very good at steals; DJ is elite on defense and is good at the catch and finish.) 3. Almost no one receiving a max offer is younger than he is. 4. Almost no one can claim to have missed 0 games in the past five years like he can. You want to build a team, he's the one guy you want from this crop.
With cap space and Robert Sacre on board Lakers plan on embarrassing themselves with denial and stupidity for 4 straight years.
But...but....next year we may have 3 max slots. We can use one for KD, one to build a time machine to bring back 1997 MJ and the third to sign 1997 MJ. Who needs to build a foundation that may attract FAs organically?
I've never mentioned blocked shots in my treatment of DJ. Jordan is the defensive tone setter for the Clippers. Koufos does move away from the basket but not much. 89.8% of his shots in his career are from within 10 feet of the rim. 54% are from within 3'. Even last year those numbers were 84 and 44. Those are more outside than DJ's numbers, but Koufos isn't the defender DJ is. Koufos plays on a team with Marc Gasol, Tony Allen, and Jeff Green. DJ has...crickets.
That's all it took? Dear DeAndre, If you renige on the Dallas deal and come here you will be a 40-40 player.
https://mobile.twitter.com/GwashburnGlobe/status/617109568926187520 Admittedly, I never heard of this guy...
Arn Tellem's role has lessened since he took a job with the Pistons. He's playing more of an advisory role at this point since he'll be leaving Wasserman Media Group by August. Interestingly enough, Bismack Biyombo is also one of his clients.
Word. I'm absolutely fine with Koufos. He will make us a better team. He won't make the Clippers a better than (than if they had DJ) though.
So what's the deal with Harris? Or Biyombo? Why are they still trying to lure a guy who isn't coming? Move on mitch
