Beverly wound up starting over Lin last year at Houston, supposedly because of him being a better defender. However.... I remember reading that Lin actually did the better job on Lillard, and seeing this youtube compilation of Lin on Lillard, 4th quarter game 6. Not a bad problem to have for us if these two guys are close, in different ways, with defending 1 on 1 good guards. We will have a good glimpse tonight pre-season against Portland if Lillard is playing. Safe to say he is a "pretty good" point guard in the league.
Lin can play decent team defense. The issue with Lillard is that he'll beat good defenders a few times a game. So if you contribute nothing on the offensive end, you still have a bad plus/minus against him. Lin at least can score against him. Decent team defense is the key.
Force lillard into the helpers and remain solid on rotations and it could get interesting. Let's not overwork kobe tonight. Maybe a Nash sighting?
Neither. Lillard will make mince meat out of them the majority of the time. The incremental difference between their defense on him isn't enough to note. Nah I'm playing a little bit. I think Lin probably knows him a little better, but wit a guy like Lillard you just try to do your best and let the chips fall where they may.
Lin's got the lenght to contest Lillard's shot but Price has that feistiness that could get under someone's skin. I'd take Lin since at least he'd make Lillard think on defense.
Look at Price's career shooting %s - FG and 3pt. I didn't know you could make it in the league shooting like that.
Yeeesh... At least he's not a liability at the charity stripe. Stats don't measure what's behind the chest plate.
Price is the better defender, more disciplined, plays better position and angles better defensively, move his feet well from side to side, etc...Lin could get better on that end and his desire is to do so...
Lin. Nobody can guard Lillard. Jeremy has the better chance of putting Lillard in foul trouble on the other end of the court.
Definitely. This guy reminds me of Fish with the kind of heart he has. Not as talented as Fish was, but has the same mentality. It's not wonder Kobe warmed to him so quickly.
Price is an excellent defender from what I've seen so far. Lighting quick hands, grounded feet (when Isiah Thomas tried to cross him and he stayed with him). Jeremy has the size and length that throws off a lot of point guards. What Jeremy struggles with is speed, something Price is better at. Lillard is a beast, but I would stick Lin on him and others for the most part.
