We're as desperate as the Knicks if not more...

Our franchises are in remarkably similar situations. Aging star, bungling FO, and a poor/unproven roster of their own making. The only difference us our roster looks slight better, but their conference is worse.

If healthy, New York is easily a playoff contender in the East. Lin, Afflalo, Melo, Porzingis, Lopez is solid.

I know they don't have Lin, but they've been rumored to be after him. And all they need is a cheap PG of Lin's caliber.

That's a bit harsh. At least we know what Clarkson and Black can do.

Playoff contender in the East shouldn't strike fear in anyone's heart.

They play against other s***ty Eastern teams while we have to grind in the west and I still think our records will be close

They just signed Afflalo and Lopez. We have no idea if Randle or Russell will be even as effective as those guys. We have no idea if Clarkson or Black take the next step. We might believe they will, but there's no proof. Their roster right now is better than ours. Just let that sink for a minute.

    Seriously...

    PG/Afflalo/Melo/Porzingis/Lopez

And they still have $8M? I could see them snagging Patrick Beverly or Reggie Jackson. Maybe Lou Williams or Jeremy Lin.

If that team plays as good defense as it possibly can, wouldn't be surprised if they made the Playoffs. 6-8th seed. Yeah it's the east, yeah the roster isn't anything to write home about, but at least they improved.

OK I'll give you that their roster is a bit better than our's but they're basically done with their offseason. We don't know how our's is going to end up. But forget that for a second because I think the last couple of days have really gotten to you. You were talking about how Randle would be better than Draymond, just a few weeks ago!! And now you're saying you he could be worse than Afflalo and RoLo.

And our FO is miles better than their's. A free agency plan to swing for the fences, whether good or bad, does not diminish a decade's worth of miracles that Mitch's wand has delivered.

I would love to f*** Gilbert and LeBron in one sweeping action. Can we poison pill him so Cleveland can't match?

They also have money next year to go after Conley, Horford, Ryan Anderson, Courtney Lee, etc.

Phil has Fisher as the coach. They were horrendous last year, and they have less assets than us. But Phil can still convince free agents to sign with them.

First of all, just because Green is a great role player, that's all he is. If I'm building a team I take Lopez first probably. Green is a good player but he makes his career off of hard work now necessarily talent. Randle gas more talent and as long as he works hard he'll be a better player.

The point though is if I'm NOT a Laker fan then what reaso do I have to think our roster is better? Of course we are high on Randle but it's based 100% on the potential we see. There's no actual proof for outside parties.

Won't happen. Tristan Thompson is signed to the agency / marketing group that LeBron owns. TT will re-sign in Cleveland and it'll most likely be the max.

The Knicks have had a good offseason. They still have money to spend. Phil is doing a nice job. As for us? Yeah, I won't go there...

Being objective, Phil has done a nice job of at least clearing a bunch of salary and bad contracts since he got to NY. He's definitely working to make them better, or at least drastically different in a short period of time. And if Porzingis turns out to be pretty good early on and surprises people, it will look like a solid gamble of a pick. Plus, whether you look at it as a good move or bad move, he did get Melo to stay last offseason to. Losing him might not have been bad, but Knicks fans would probably be still hating on Phil had he walked. Their offseason looks a lot better than ours at the moment. Their starting lineup is already better on paper, IMO of course.

Is this really even an argument right now?

    As of right now....

Knicks have improved dramatically since last year and still have room to add more pieces. They are setup for the playoffs this year and a run at top talent next year.

Lakers are on track for another 20 win season, no free agent pickups worth a damn, no chance at the playoffs and sure as hell no chance to attract FA next season when everyone (Even the good teams) will have cap space to chase talent.

Phil is dominating the s*** out of LA right now and it's not even close.

We don't have many NBA players outside of 4-5 guys on the roster right now. I'd love to have the can't score problem right now.
