He’s maybe going to be better than a Kawhi “lite”. How about “medium” if he can get his D into the same county of where Kawhi’s was? Great elevation on his J when needed for mid range and nice stroke from deep, to go with the strength and athleticism.
Rui's job is to score and play D, reducing Bron's and Vando's load in these depts.... He is going to be just fine doing that.
If he's coming off the bench, he's going to have the greenest of green lights. With how he's shooting, run it! Rui's a problem. Bridges and Jalen Wilson were both in his jersey on those shots and Rui was not phased.
His offensive game is so smooth when hes in rhythm. Definitely should be the 6th man with the green light to score. He’d be a waste with the starters.
getting coached by phil and mentored by lebron is some crazy stuff after starting your career in washington.
Liked the start he had (9 in 1st). 2nd Q had some bumps, but that was true for most of the team. This one was nice 26 & 13 from those two will do just fine.
It never ceases to amaze me how, in the course of six months, from the most illogical lineup in the league without any depth on the wing, the Lakers became a very well-balanced team with an absolutely fantastic rotation of winges. Rui looks dangerous, and our team as a whole looks extremely promising so far. Can't wait for the season to start, we shall see where we truly are very quickly considering the first few opponents.
I think the next step in his offensive evolution needs to be A) softening the touch around the rim. OR B) selling contact at the rim. He's got the guys around him to help him figure that out and it's not a must on this team. As is, he can be a huge boost as a 4th or 5th option getting 28-30 minutes a night. But if he wants to take that next step offensively, I think that's it. I've noticed it more this pre-season and maybe that's the contract, maybe that's knowing he'll be here awhile (unless we do something foolish), maybe it's seeing the work he's putting in and who he's putting it in with and just thinking of his ceiling.
The thought of DLO and Rui as someone mentioned earlier today that Simmons had thrown out there a short while ago (of course) traded for Irving at the deadline would be wrong in so many ways. IMO. Like we hadn’t learned a thing from what we did bringing Westbrook in and what we gave up that would have been so much more useful. Even though Kyrie has loads more talent left than Russ still so much that could go wrong. We don’t need what he has left.
working on his perimeter skills has really paid off. now he can start using it to set up the drive and learn how to finish when he's got momentum going in a crowd. he hasn't had to do that much because nobody respected his jumper until now.
Rui’s midrange jumper is money. Im pretty settled on needing to start either Vando or Prince. Rui can cook against second units. He’ll abuse most bench players at his position.
Completely agree. Once he gets inside sometimes that extra second to gain his balance, a fake for contact, and a more controlled shot would go along way. The seal oil for the salmon so to speak. ( That is like the icing on the cake)
NBA comparison for Rui is Cedric Ceballos, but with better defense, and a better jumper. The height, weight, body type, scoring ability, mannerisms, and even jersey number if I'm not mistaken match up. It's kind of crazy.
