The same win total as the Mavericks wtf.

Probably a lot to do with Lebron age: a lot of player projections look at age and regular season numbers. His regular season numbers have dropped with the injuries and he's old as f***

seems like fair value, but they're heading toward a 200 million dollar pre-tax payroll over there.

    That's just awful lol
Stats are cool, I'm pro stat but these models will never capture the sports essence.

Like @abeer3 stating a "weird playoff success" from Miami. It's not weird, that's the Heat culture. There's no egos. There's no pecking order. Everyone is empowered, everyone has a chance and the only thing it matters is a team win. They're all dawgs and all that matters in a playoff series.

So on the topic above, this team's depth, continuity and chemistry will result in a better record. Everyone knows their role in our team and can cope with injuries like never in recent history. That doesn't show in stats but matters

Jrue would be huge for Team USA, much better than the handful of scoring guards like Lillard or Kyrie.

agree that stats applied in this manner aren't a good idea, but don't agree on the mystical heat culture. if it's a thing, why is it only there every other year or less? why only in the playoffs? is the culture only to try hard when it counts the most? i think they've done a good job marketing this in the press.

anyway, back to the stats--the real issue to me is what counts as an independent event and what counts as a stable entity. guys like pelton mix and match this to ridiculous effect. for example, if a team turns over a bunch of players, why would you use anything that happened from that team the previous year to predict this year (e.g., the 34 percent shooting anomaly that is certain to change dramatically)? if you're not doing that and instead frankensteining individual player stats from different systems, etc., that's just as crazy. the fact that these stat systems never replicate the standard wins distribution (always truncated with league leaders winning low 50s and playoff spread being 7 total games or somesuch) is the first clue that they basically have no validity.

so why bother? i get...the clicks. but why defend it afterwards? i guess the same?

It seems like Lue already hates it there, can't imagine he's thrilled to bring Harden into the fold. Harden isn't a bad player by any means, I thought he had a decent case for All-NBA Third Team. But its hard to trade for a guy knowing its almost certain that he'll be 4-13 and disengaged in the biggest game of your season, while also having the exact wrong personality to pair with your best players.

f*** it, I hope they do it lol.

I don't think they're allowed to trade you to China. I miss when you had to have a resumé to make trade requests.

Kai... Kai Jones... I think he's a big man... not a guard. Am I correct? I really am not sure who he is and I watch a lot of basketball.
