Too many other teams like Hill, he's gone. Amare is our best bet and even he's a long shot. Why would be come here when the Texas teams and Clippers like him? He'll go to the playoffs and be on a real team by going to one of those places.
If we sign Amare, im going on a drinking binge, enough is enough. If it wasn't for Russ/Clark/Julius i wouldn't even watch a single game.
That's a plan B?! Looks more like a Plan Z at best. So it's either big names or bottom of barrel players, no middle ground. Who do you expect to sign with us next offseason when you are still just offering youngsters (talented but still a couple years out) when every team will have cap space and only so many free agents. Changes need to be made up top.
exactly, i dont get why they did not go after any 2nd 3rd tier guys. We could have had young promising players along with solid players heading to next offseason waiting for that true super stars that could lead us... sigh
Yep. Just last week I had visions of Russell throwing those sweet cross court passes to LMA. Now we will be lucky if he is throwing the ball to Kosta.
I think Koufos is our best shot, but we probably re-sign Hill. I think Koufos in a starting role would surprise some just like Ed Davis did. So the cool news is next summer he'll bolt for a better check while the Lakers wait for Durant to go to Washington or stay in OKC.
Maybe we are tanking for that top 3 pick for next season already? Bringing Amare or David Lee is same as signing Boozer last year.
I can't do that again. I just don't think I can sit there a whole season praying for the pick like last year. Just no. I doubt we will keep it anyway.
I've been doing some thinking. Here's the impact I'm projecting for these names we're discussing. PLAYER, Wins Added, +/- Difference Aldridge +7.6 wins, +50 Lee +6.4 wins, +150 R. Lopez +6.2, +178 Biyombo +4.9, +155 Koufos +4.5 wins, +53 Harris +4.4, +0 Amare +3.3 wins, +46 Butle +2.9 wins, -39 Ellington +1.4, -121 J. Smith +1.4, -97 Dalemebert +.9 wins, -33 I'd honestly be pretty stoked if we could land Harris and Koufos. I'm less thrilled about Lee, despite his higher numbers, because of his age. Jason Smith? WTF???? He's an inferior version of Chris Mihm.
I keep reminding myself that koufos/deng was my realistic pre-FA dream. it's not possible, but something akin to that is still out there. dwindling by the second, though. like elgin, I can't sit through another year like last year, with a bunch of one-year vets languishing and showing our young guys how to lose.
FWIW I have our current roster - with not enough players - as being able to go for between 24 and 40 wins depending upon a lot.
24-40. The goal next year is simply getting at or as near to .500 as possible. All we need to do next year is be competitive; with Kevin being pipe, my hope is we land a solid free agent whose talent can take a 37-41 win squad to the high 40's low 50's and we get in the PO's...
