Not sure what you can learn from this one other than you absolutely must be able to control the line of scrimmage in at least one phase of the game.

I saw that it was 21-10 at halftime. Now we got outscored 17-0 in the second. Buffalo took it out on us after losing this past Monday night. On to Pittsburgh at home.

Sigh... THIS is just weird. Not even making an effort to throw his way?

In 2022, only 11 qualified TEs had a positive Passer Rating When Targeted (PRWT) vs. Team PR (9 in double digit %).
Only 10 RBs did (6 in double digit%).
    40 WRs did (22 in double digit%).
Suggestion: WRs are the best to target, then TEs, and finally RBs.

Some weird stats last three seasons for Jimmy G. These are team stats (SF, SF, LV), but he's taken most of the dropbacks...

    2021
    497 targets
    243 for WRs (49%)
    105 for TEs (21%)
    99 for RBs (20%)

    2022
    504 targets
    297 for WRs (59%)
    98 for TEs (19%)
    109 for RBs (22%)

    2023
    49 targets
    31 for WRs (64%)
    4 for TEs (7%)
    14 for RBs (29%)

The numbers are becoming increasingly WR heavy (not a bad thing) but squeezing out the TEs. Can't become one-dimensional, and if you're going to diminish a group, at least make it the historically least effective group - RBs.

So I watched that abomination of a football game and came up to 2 conclusions..... We don't do Sh** if the lines are doing their jobs.

The O-line was IMO horrible. Every play there was a break in the pocket. I don't feel Jimmy had enough time to let plays develop. The first pick he threw was a great call but better defensive play by the D linemen. It def turned the game but in that I didn't fault the play call or even the execution more than I say great play by d. I will say that there was a third and long that jimmy threw a horrendous pass to the left side that came up 6 yards short of the open receiver that would of given us the 1st. All in all the offensive line gave us no holes, no protection and no time. Offense struggled starting there.

The D-line was even worse. Maxx was getting held all game but we had zero pressure on a QB who is flappable. With no pressure the Bills O had all the time in the world. With little penetration they could pick their battles at will. We failed on so many levels.

We have a chance to show up this Sunday. This is a must win IMO

Yeah. I didn’t want to sound like I was saying he’s a disaster. I put that poorly. I’m 90% convinced it’s a mental health issue. And I hope he gets the help he clearly needs.

yes, one of the pundits shared that a few days after this all started. It's funny (not haha) that if this was a different team we would of heard about that first but its the Raiders and there is nothing about it.

I think Chandler got upset because all the off season chatter has been about Maxx and the new kid. Chandler was nearly never mentioned when people talked about the Raiders D. When this all broke I thought about that very thing being the catalyst. Dude needs help for sure especially with something similar happening during his career already.

Personally I think the Raiders from top down has handled this very well from the little I've gotten to see.

With the way the to FO and coaches have talked about it I feel it is def mental health issue. Like Gcc said he had a very similar break before and that was out of nowhere too. I heard on one podcast today that it isn't even money cause the Raiders already paid him most of this years salary. This def feels all mental health.

    Projection:

    Steelers 22
    Raiders 20

I'd like to be wrong. If the running game can get clicking, this team can do some damage.

Man this is a big game. I hate fan boards because most are illogical and devoid of any real critical analysis. Its usually just emotional hating on a certain player, coaches or leadership in some way. Imma drop my thoughts here.

The Raiders aren't as bad as people make them. This team should of beat Pit easily. We suffer from what I call "one play" where one dumb a** play kills us but overall we are right there. As a fan, I'm tired of being "right there" because losing has been old for a long time. Blowing games have been old for a long time. Making that one "dumb" play has been old for a long time. That being said, as a fan of the sport and the team I have seen some stuff that gives me hope.

First, Josh McDanials isn't as bad a coach as people are making him. Nearly every offensive call we have someone who is open. When you see the replays it is glaring. The QB has to make his choices and make them quick in that offense. If the line gives the QB a little time it is going to come out well (I think) more often than not. The Bills game we had zero production from either line and that showed in how we got pummeled. I think Jimmy runs McD's offense well BUT I think Jimmy has at times tried too hard to prove a point. His interceptions have been mostly from forcing which really isn't his game. He is cool and calm, and unlike DC, he doesn't get happy feet. Sometimes I think he is forcing the "make a play" part and getting us into bad situations. Anyway, back to Josh. No one can deny that call for a FG was dumb as hell. I understood the thought but you simply don't make that call where they were especially when they could still get a first down to set up first and goal.

Our first three games we suffered from (Gm1) Jimmy only trusting #16 most of the game and Josh Jacobs being way out of sync, (Gm2) #16 out, JJ still not right and really no protection for Jimmy and no pressure from our D line, and (Gm3) finally getting to see jimmy spread the ball around a little more and Josh Jacobs look much more like himself. I really think a couple of bonehead flags and miscues kept us from being 2-1 more than anything the steelers did last game.

Speaking of flags.... I have never seen so many picked up flags against one team. We have had 3 pass interference flags picked up against us in the last 2 games. They were clear as hell. I am not a "blame" the officials guy but I am a "that cost us" guy. we need that cleaned up.

When the defense can get off the field and the offense holds the ball a while so those guys can catch a breather they (the D) is actually decent. We still need better pressure on the QB but overall they have played much better than the numbers show. 3rd qtr of the Pit game the offense did nothing and the D was simply gassed. When the offense started giving them breathers they (the D) got all the stops we needed except for that critical 3rd down after our FG. That blown play was a blown call by us.

Anyway, overall I think this is a playoff caliber team BUT, and that is a big but, we have to put it together. I really love this kid Oconnel and if they can give him time he will shine today. I think Josh's tenure as a coach is riding on this kids shoulders. I also think Jimmy may not see the field again if the kid plays to potential.

    Staying hopeful!

    It's AOC time.

But, man, that was a horrendous opening drive. Everything that's wrong with LV's D.
    Huge run play.
    Penalty on a strip sack.
Allows a TD run to Herbert.

I don't think McDaniels is a BAD coach. He's not a winner though. He's never won as a head coach.

5-yard run on first down. That's a nice way to start.

Can’t get worse. Allow a TD. Three and out.

    All uphill from here.
