Yeah, hope Portland doesn't cave for the sake of the league, it's ridiculous.
It's better for the Lakers if Portland gives up, but worse for the league.

Players really need to stop signing massive extensions and then decide where they want to go. That's what Free Agency is for.

But it will get tricky once training camp and the season starts. Curious how Portland handles it, are they starting Dame and bringing Scoot off the bench?

Do you see a Harden/Dame deal happening? Even if it involves other teams? It's two current nightmares for the franchises but no one is giving multiple (relevant) FRPs for either which I guess is what Portland wants

i don't see why portland isn't chasing a few picks plus a couple solid young players who are locked into good contracts (read: not herro).

as for what they do on the court, my guess is they bring scoot off the bench until lillard is moved (assuming they make it out of camp that way). it doesn't matter to them, they plan to be terrible this year.

anyway, the thing i'm really watching is whether portland allows themselves to get publicly humiliated in the trade talks. everyone knows what was offered months ago. if you take that or less, you look like complete idiots, imo. there has been no loss of value in the asset during that time period, and your primary trade partner is in as deep trouble as you are. nobody is talking about how miami is also walking into camp with several guys knowing they're very much on the block. the difference is that miami plans on contending this year, whereas portland plans on being terrible.

so again, if the deal is lowry/herro/one of jovic/jaquez/picks, portland got fleeced. that's what you said no to months ago. miami needs to up its offer somehow or portland needs to trade lillard elsewhere. otherwise, i'd fire the entire front office.

I think I'm missing the connection here. Crony capitalism no, but otherwise, what option is better? State run? I think we have examples in the world including the US why that isn't a great option right now. "Allegedly"

the only reason people call it a fake ring is because the lakers won it

if the nuggets or heat had won, they'd be building statues and calling it the hardest title ever won

Miami columnists Barry Jackson and Anthony Chang of the Miami Herald have published a new article covering the latest developments surrounding the trade of Portland point guard Damian Lillard .

Journalists highlighted one most important point.

“If Lillard is traded to any team other than Miami , he is expected to request a trade to the Heat again,” Jackson and Chang wrote.
Is that even possible by new NBA collective agreement ?

That package is alright, there's no "SGA" on it but those aren't common.
I guess Portland doesn't want Herro but is it that difficult to find a suitor for him? Because all the rest seems fine, Lowry is a good mentor to Scoot in his first year, Jovic shows potential in the national team, just doesn't have opportunities in Miami, the other guy is a FRP from this year who played nice in SL.

I'm not sure that package was offered. Otherwise I don't know what Portland wants

    True words on Miami's pressure

Whose the Toronto team this year to try a pull a Kawhii? Go for a title and if it doesn't work out we'll send you to Miami at the end of the year. Not quite analogous as Kawhi was about to be a FA but I have to think someone would be interested.

Hell I think Toronto could be real interesting again - they have a lot of talent on that team that needs a closer and they have the assets to make a move. Minnesota makes a lot of sense as well. Him and Ant with Gobert and McDaniels on defense works on paper.

We no longer have a need for him but he'll be alright. He's an elite 3pt shooter.

I can see the Mavs getting him as they only care about offense.

I am a bit nervous about penciling a 20 year old Christie as the backup 2, but Hield doesn't make sense for us anymore.

I think the only way it's even possible (salary matching wise) for the idea of Hield being a Laker, it would have to happen in December when all the players that signed extensions/free agents can be traded.... having said that, if the Pacers call and say "Hey we'll offer you Hield and Myles Turner for Austin Reaves, Rui, and salary cap filler (approx $3 mil)".

Would you do it? Austin is really nice but a starting lineup of DLo/Hield/Bron/AD/Turner is also pretty nice too.....

Teams are really about to start regretting not dealing with us in good faith. Hield is going to end up getting traded for peanuts.
