I hope you are right about Winning time with Kobe/Shaq but they would have to keep Pearlman and his book so far away i doubt they could, especially since it's Pearlman who's in the front and center trying to keep the show up. I just don't see how they can put any positive kobe spin from that book, it's just not there. Just hate upon hate with every word Pearlman writes. He puts a postive spin about this bar owner who lied and somehow Kobe is still the bad guy with how Pearlman writes it. The one on One with Coop wasn't as impressive as everyone makes it out to be even though it was that workout that got West all jazzed up about Kobe. The one on one with Rider was alot closer game then reported even though Rider admitted it wasn't a close game between the 2. Not one good Kobe story, not one. Even DOnald Trump is made out to be a hero in that damn book with that All Star weekend story yet Kobe does not have 1 good story, not one in that damn book.
wasn't jeanie on the "please don't watch winning time" train? or was that just magic/kareem/west i'd love to know what riley thinks of the show. brody's done a great job in that role. love the transformation
Speaking of the grumpy old man, who called the Lakers a s*** show a couple of years ago, is he still on Ballz’s payroll as a consultant?
To me, the problem with Three Ring Circus is not specifically the anti-Kobe stuff (though it’s a fairly unflattering portrayal), it’s that Pearlman manages to make that whole three peat team/era feel completely joyless. Nothing but acrimony. It’s the opposite of Showtime, in which maybe the coolest dudes ever go on one of the wildest and most fun NBA runs of all time.
yes. he's an executive board member or something like that i know magic criticized the show too, probably because he had his own doc coming out
Am taking my time. Just did episode 3 with Larry Bird’s ascension, dark family history, tension between Westhead and Riley. as well as Nixon and Magic & Mag getting that 25 year contract. Did not remember it was “that” early in his career. But just great stuff and drama all the way through. Jerry Buss lives …. in this series, so damn good.
Wtf director Salli Richardson posted on Instagram: “When you give it everything you’ve got, you can have no regrets. I hope you enjoy the last episode of @winningtimehbo I am sure I will do many more hours of TV and hopefully many features in my future, but I can say that at this moment in time I am most proud of the work we did on this masterful show. So we would love to have, at the very least, even though we can do this for years, one more season so that we can get the Lakers winning against the C Bags. We don’t want to end with the C Bags winning. That’s awful,” she told THR. “
Maybe another streaming service will pick it up for a 3rd season so they can end it with the Lakers beating the C Bags.
As soon as the credit epilogue came up after tonight's season finale, it was clear the HBO run was over. Unfortunate, the back half of this season was really good. Also how the f*** can a show about the Lakers end with the C Bags on top?! You simply can't do that.
sucks. really hope it gets picked up by some streaming service because it's such a fun watch and you just can't end a series about the lakers with a C Bags win between the poor marketing and the strikes, the show was simply doomed
Watching season 2 now. Season 1 was great! Hope they extend it to 3peat years of early Kobe and Shaq!!!! That would be WOW!
