Love it. He's not going anywhere this season, but if things go sideways and it looks like the LeBron/AD window is over this is a really easy contract to trade. With LeBron hopefully bouncing back a little bit with his three point shot, and Ham having a full training camp to figure out a better/more creative role for Vando on offense than just standing in the corner, I think Vando is going to have a very strong regular season.

 

I was going to say, does it seem like Vando just became a good tradeable contract if we needed to change things up?

the length and PO may complicate tradability to some extent, but going forward, we now have a collection of contracts in that mid-tier range that give us a lot more trade flexibility than we had during the russ years.

 

And that’s the interesting part. Combine 2 players and we could match a GREAT contract. Just gotta find some picks to entice, but like the fact that 2 mid players could add up to a star is great instead of 8 players and the bottom of the barrel of picks for MAYBE a Star but most likely a mid player.

In the end, Russ DID actually help us. And it’s great.

As for Russ, I’m done saying anything about him.

 

DLO and Vando now reach close to 30 million when combined in salary - unless he takes a huge leap offensively I wouldn't be surprised if they got traded together to match salaries. Thros in JHS and the Lakers having first rounders, teams like ATL who are in no mans land and way over the cap look like intriguing trade partners to me.

You're also pretty damn close to matching Kyrie's salary without having to lose Rui/Max/Reaves which is probably from the Lakers perspective maybe what they are teeing up for. I'd be looking at guys like Murray myself - need two-way guys for the playoffs but it is what it is.

The Lakers have a lot of bodies right now and are ripe for a consolidation move.
You have Lebron/AD/Reaves who are set but then Dlo/Rui/Vando/Prince/Gabe/Wood/Max/Hayes. An 11 man rotation ain't happening

Worth noting for an future trade machine fodder this season: Vando cannot be traded this season. The 6 month rule is up after the deadline, so no matter what he's here this season.

Well the Vando signing could kind of indirectly help the Lakers with a blockbuster trade this season, in terms of being able to back fill vacated minutes from a traded Rui, for example. Max and Prince would then be waiting in the wings to replace Rui's minutes. It would seem that a Dlo/Rui combo might be the most likely trade package, should the Lakers decide to go that direction, likely for a starting 1 or 2 that could shoot and defend ones.
