^ Definitely not...but Wes Matthews know he's going to spend a lot of time on the sideline and partying with Chandler Parsons man!

I mean can we blame Wes? Kobe doesn't party, and the rest of our roster is like 19 and can't even drink

I mean if I'm DJ I wouldn't even look at the Mavericks.

Clippers are first option. Then I'd look at New York ONLY because it's much easier to make the playoffs and the Phil Jackson thing. Lakers aren't far behind the Knicks if not equal

    See? That's B********.

CUBAN'S track record? What about Mitch Kupchak's which is lightyears ahead of f***ing Cuban? This is total crap. Something doesn't smell right with that analysis.

I'd worry too. Without Blake there he's a one way player that would actually be guarded on the offensive end.

Our roster is maybe half a step behind Dallas' and they've got the advantage over us due to their track record?? What F***ING TRACK RECORD? The Lakers have been to the Finals 7 times in the last 20 years, the Mavs twice. Track RECORD?? If we lose because of TRACK RECORD then I'll have lost my whole damn mind.

Tell me their roster is better, tell me you like their city more, tell me you like the Texas taxes, but don't f***ing tell me that Mark Cuban has a better track record than we do.

Why does every journalist seem to have an anti-laker slant this summer, even our own local guys?

Cuban's players love him. They all hang out together etc. I think that is the track record. He's also willing to take risks and seems to find enough players to put a decent team out there year after year.

@therealdeal I mean Cuban does have a good track record of spending to put talent together. He got Monta, re-acquired Tyson, got them Kidd a couple years ago, etc. Yeah nothing compared to our overall track record, but I think she's just trying to say Cuban might pitch that he's not done spending and he has evidence to prove it

I've seen enough crazy things go down in free agency that I still have a little bit of hope. One day, LMA completely rules us out and the next, he's giving us another meeting. Maybe tomorrow he rules us out, and then the next day he has a change of heart and signs with us. You just never know, regardless of what narrative the sports media is trying to push.

And Deandre still hasn't ruled us out either. Apparently he was intrigued by both us and New York. It sounds like he's torn between signing with a team that would definitely be a contender right now but with a short window, or a rebuilding team with the potential to be good for a while.

If DJ is worried about age, the Lakers check that box. We're young, with our best years ahead.

If he's worried about contending after say, someone like Blake is a FA, the Lakers check that box. We're always able to re-load, and with a piece like DJ it's only easier to attract FA's.

If DJ doesn't want to re-locate his whole life, the Lakers check that box.

If DJ wants to have a bigger role, the Lakers check that box.

If DJ wants a chip now, none of the teams he's talking to check that box.

Might as well sign the the Lakers.

Cuban has a track record of making trades mid-season to improve I guess. He also has a track record of immediately blowing up an entire team that just won the NBA title. But I guess his track record of being players buddy, yelling at the refs courtside, coming to the bench and interfering during games, and spending a lot on the locker room luxuries are important.

This is a good point. Even when Cuban misses out, he still spends money to acquire second-tier players and somehow maintains flexibility. Meanwhile, lately, the Lakers just haven't spent money on anybody and lose out on everything.

    Also, he has Carlisle.

We have the exact same track record, but better. If Shelburn wants to tell me that they just like Cuban more or that they really want to go home to Texas, fine. I'll listen to that. I will not however tolerate the "Cuban has a great track record" narrative. That's utterly unacceptable.

I always figured if these guys chose Dallas it's because they just really wanted to play there, not LA. I'm okay with that. Don't try to spin it though with some stupid thing about how Cuban has a great track record. Yeah? So does Mitch Kupchak. That cannot be the reason.

I don't think she's referring to Cuban's track record of basketball success. She's talking about Cuban's image as the cool, personable owner. Some players are legitimately attracted to the idea of having an owner who can drop a million dollars while hanging out at a club with you one day, and then the next day he's court side yelling at the refs for you and personally defending you and trash talking your opposition in the media.
