Harden isn’t worth more than a box of chocolates at this point. I don’t care what the numbers say. He’s a cancer on any team looking to win and has proved this over and over again. I hope he gets traded to the Toilet Bowls of L.A. They deserve to continue to fail together!

He’s 34. It’s pretty crazy to expect to earn 35+ mil forever. They can’t carry the same load. Pretty silly and petty.

It would be entertaining: Westbrook, Harden, Kawhi, George all on the same team. Then you got Phoenix with KD, Beal, Booker, Ayton.
If another team like Den or LAL get to the Finals with that type of talent, trying to take them down pretty special run

lol, miami can't get dame, but sure, embiid is in play. f***ing riley...

i'm very mad to have to keep sticking up for freaking harden....*holds nose*

he's actually still pretty good, and taking the paycut in the first place was a positive sign that he understands his basketball mortality. he (finally) sacrificed stats to win last year. that was interesting to me.

lebron will command 50+ despite playing 50 games and not playing defense. i think harden thinks he can get 40 for the same. he's not lebron, obviously, but brad beal is going to get 60 per.

Yes, but I think we agree it’s crazy. If not, you have money for so many generations if you are responsible that it’s crazy to get overly upset about IMHO. Enough to torch places in order to try to leave them while they are on the hook for 35 mil to pay you.

Kareem must be shaking his head

absolutely--the salary stuff is about principle and pride. but those are real things.

again, i'm the president of the harden haterz club, but i think he's right to feel wronged here. and i think he still has a year or two of impactful play left. he could have played hardball for an extension last year and didn't, thinking he'd recoup it after a slight stepback. was that dumb? yes! he overestimated his market value (note the panic when it was clear houston wouldn't chase him), but he also did so because he trusted a guy who he'd been in the trenches with for most of his career. and that dude just bolted on the arrangement/broke the relationship.

so yeah, he's rich and an has an undeserved place in the nba pantheon. so maybe he wins anyway. but morey's the bad(der) guy here. and just like in houston, everyone is seeing this. nobody is going to sign up to work with morey after he betrayed the dude who made his entire name.

The only thing that Harden is saying that he lied about is that he said he would trade him this off-season if he opted in, but Morey is saying that he would try. I guess I don’t really have a strong opinion one way or the other at this point, because we don’t know what the truth is for sure.

I do know that Morey had basically set records on player turnover during his tenure in Houston and traded players like toilet paper. It was pretty crazy how he was always still able to work up a deal when you were pretty sure that they had no moves left in the tank. And then, when all the fun dried up, he was out of there.

I guess I’m reserving judgment on the whole situation, and I’m not quite so quick to come to James Harden’s aid.

I was absolutely impressed that he took a step back this year and decided to lead the league in assists. Not too many guys who have been able to score 35 points a game have that ability, so I’m sure he is a little offended if the extension offer was not on the table, and it was made conditional on if they made the finals.

I still find it to be a very immature reaction, and he’s really hurting nobody but himself.

i get all that and respect that take; i just still fall on the other side. there was a trust there that got violated (i really think harden thought a max extension was perfunctory). morey's always gotten the human parts wrong, and he he has been sort of championed for it. it's weird to me.

as for the last point, i disagree there: the party most hurt by this is philly. the management once again looks like weasels, and they're in a super weak position re: trades, plus everybody knows harden will totally tank it on the court. that's not an empty threat.

harden's in a bit of a no-win since morey (wisely, i think) stonewalled the clips.

and again, don't get me wrong: i'm enjoying my popcorn here in any case. i just think harden's already lost in certain ways, but he can make sure that philly loses just as much as he did.

Philly will not be able to recruit anyone for the next 10 years unless they fire Morey. The ONLY way they will get a good player is to trade for ones with longer term contracts already in place. That is hard to do and everyone they trade will just leave as soon as they are free agents. Embid is gone, watch!

This is true, and after their old GM used burner accounts, and the disaster of The Process, they really don’t have margin for error. But Morey seems coated in Teflon, so we’ll see.

@KareemtheGreat33 teases about Jay Huff “looking” like a kind of dude with iffy showering habits :giggle: but didn’t among other nicknames Wilt have a dubious one of “Big Musty”?

LOL … yep just looked it up. Elgin called him that because he had the habit of wearing his funky sweats home or to his hotel room to clean up.

the "better team" doesn't miss a million FTs in a game 7. the kings had so many chances to win that series and they blew it

also, funny how people just choose to forget that prime shaq got one(!) FT in game 5. that series was officiated terribly for both teams

Tough because of the incomparable shooting and scoring to go along with Steph’s PG skills. But Magic could have scored more and WAS the best PG ever IMO.

Game 5 was an absolute travesty of officiating. Bobby Jackson pulls Kobe’s jersey out of his f***ing shorts on the last second shot and gets zero call. That game was pathetic.

that kings team was REALLY good. maybe best team i've seen that didn't win a ring (better than the okc teams, imo). but...it irks me to this day that everyone talks about game 6 officiating and not game 5 officiating. and then just sweeps the game 7 stuff under the rug in the name of game 6 injustice.

people also forget this was the kobe food poisoning series. thing could have easily been 4-1. kings were lucky to get to whine about it 20 years later, tbh.
