lol, great comp. struggled early for the same reasons, put up big numbers and even looked good on advanced metrics, but every single team ended up wanting him gone, most quickly.

With Brooks gone, Ja is short a wheelman. Wood is known as a bit of a gunner. Could work.

SMH..Dallas thought all of that, but still offered Wood an 18M dollar extension, that he foolishly turned down? Sounds like he needs a new agent to me. Media character assassination, seems to be in full effect on this guy. Curiously Dallas made a point of saying, that he was not some kind of locker room problem. Bring him on ASAP on a minimum, it's a no brainer. If he does sign a min deal, he should fire his agent immediately.

Meh..defense..Luka and Kyrie.. didn't even try to guard anybody, all season. Lol

Seems like the Dallas FO decided not to be Brunsoned when he didn't sign the extension an went full on tank his value mode.

Luka liked him and before he declined the exception Dallas fans/media wanted him to play more minutes. Before he hurt his thumb he was good and again the Dallas players notably haven't complained about him. At a vet minimum amazing value and you can always cut him. No brainer to bring him in if he's willing

so now we're a) expecting players to publicly complain about a free agent player and b) belieiving that there was some sort of conspiracy to tank wood's value due to concern about embarrassment?

the much simpler story is that dallas thinks he makes their team worse.

Well yeah, it would've been a movable salary slot. Teams like Green and Hardy but neither makes a lot. Combining Wood + either of those gets you in the mid 20 million dollar player section of the catalog.

That I agree with. They bobbled the extension, read the off- season wrong, were unprofessional in their approach with the media and the Mavs, are under qualified (I posted a link to their clients earlier, it's laughably bad), and aren't honest with their client about his standing in the league.

It's only a no brainer in that we would be acquiring a player without one.

Which is even more of a reason for them to banish him and get defenders around those two. You give balance to your team based on your star's strengths and weaknesses, not abandon that side of the court all together and said f*** it.

Cranjiss had a nice podcast on this and of you look at the media perception of him immediately changed when he declined the extension. All reports are they did offer him an extension and of they did strange way of saying that they his play was that awful

And after living thru Westbrook, everyone knew what Lebron and AD thought of him even though there was little quotes attributed to him. With Wood lot of it is coming from the FO and not the players

if he turned down 18 mill and is now struggling to get even minimum level offers, then he's a

    :Schrooder Clown:

If we time it right, he could be valuable to us like Schroeder was once he's knocked down a peg or two. I think it's ok to let him prove it elsewhere, but unless the office has great intel that he's changed, it seems like too many red flags to take the chance. But if Rob hasn't withdrawn the offer, and his magic touch hasn't worn off, I suppose I have to roll with whatever they decide.

is media perception what's making nobody offer him above the minimum? the mavs have said they'd consider working a S&T for him. what do the mavs have to gain by wood not getting a contract? i'm genuinely curious. if they're really unjustifiably tearing him down, that would be very bad for business.

again, the simpler story is that his last two teams were very happy to move on from him for very real reasons. winning nba teams can't have guys who don't know where to be on defense.

Then why did they offer him an extension? He was stupid to decline it though, absolutely.

I don't know what offers he has..I have no idea where he actually wants to play either, but I still seriously doubt that it will be for the minimum, he's worth more than that. However I'm sure we'd sign him ASAP at that price. I still say that the defense stuff is way overblown, he looked damn decent on defense, everytime he played us, in Houston or Dallas.

It's rather ridiculous to blame Wood for Detroit, Houston or Dallas sucking too IMO.

Which is why Ham, IMNHO, will be loathe to play him unless absolutely desperate for offense. And that lack of minutes will not sit well with a guy who has taken the minimum to be here and hopes to rehab his image. Can our staff make him a better defender where other teams apparently failed? Well maybe, so there's that.

no one's blaming him for their problems, but they're all saying he wasn't going to be part of the solution.

and your argument is that he's potentially weighing several non-minimum offers right now?

anyway, i know LT was joking, but it really is the same thing as westbrook, right down to the "teammates like him" and "he's worth more than the minimum" points. even if that's all true, something more powerful than those factors is dictating his real value to teams.

If Darvin signed off on him, I'm all in. This would be the coup of Free Agency. I have to say again though, his agent should be fired immediately, you just can't leave that kind of money on the table, and have no concrete backup plan.

MAYBE ..... for a lot of the same reason we did DLO, in spite of your palpable dislike of him following the Denver series? Not wanting to lose an asset that "might" be worth that much in a trade if/when necessary, and regular season contributor, unlike playoffs when defense matters?

Westbrook and Wood aren't similar at all. Except both being from LA. I don't care about his career prospects elsewhere at all, it would be a phenomenal pick up for the Lakers at that salary period.

It's the dog days of summer man, there's really nothing else to talk about. Seriously.. arguing over snagging Wood on a minimum contract, is a pretty frivolous argument IMO.

Meh..a vet minimum contract for that level of production LT? This isn't even a serious discussion. I'm pretty sure that Rob would hold a spot for this guy, if he thought we could sign him. It looks like the whole league is in a holding pattern, until the next big trade goes down to me. We'll see,I want to see some action.
