I know they were instrumental during the Nash years and when you're a team who's done nothing for so long, you have to put something up there. Neither have a resumé that screams out rafter worthy to me.

We’re so fortunate to have a different standard and to be able celebrate championships instead of toilets.

We've certainly been blessed the talent the Lakers have had on their team over the years

I've been a fan since 1966 and have enjoyed watching these players

No other team can match the talent over the years, the one that comes closest is the C Bags and that haven't come close since the Russell era. I mean they were great with Bird and McHale but we were still better and since then, they have not come close to keeping up with us. Take the Russell era out of the equation and we probably would barely even think about these guys. History makes it different and also makes us different.

MacMahon (ESPN) had a rough review of Wood on Locked in Mavs

Fast forward to the 20 minute marker and listen to the 2 1/2 minute slaughter

-Kidd didn't want him when they traded for him. Every coach he's had ended up not wanting him (speculation?).
-One high ranking Mavs source said the problem isn't that he's a bad defender, it's that he's a f***ing terrible defender.
-He didn't embrace his role. When there's a rep of being a pain in the butt and an empty stats guy, he didn't do anything to buck the narrative. The non-stop grumbling about role from him or his people.
-Not caring about winning or being able to contribute to winning is why he's a FA in week 6 of the off-season and going to end up on a min deal.
-Worst thing a player (like him) can do is surround himself by yes-men. Super talented and not a bad guy or a jerk but he's a guy walking into meetings right before they start or not putting in extra work or even pretending to study a defensive scheme. That's why it's tough for him to stick anywhere.

Locked on Lakers with an interesting look into Wood with a Mavs insider. Really starting to cool on this guy.

lol, my fear is that he signs with the clippers and helps them lose like he helps other teams lose, but helps them beat us four times like they do every year.

Definitely a lot of red flags. Sounds like him and his team aren't doing anything to put out the fires either.

Definitely fine with us passing on him.

To do that you have to face and address the criticism. You can't point fingers or play the victim. Ownership, accountability, and forward progress has to transpire. That's not possible if you are surrounded by incompetent yes-men. They're not there yet and there's no indication they'll get there before he's overseas.

Some people can only learn the hard way. No need to participate in that journey though - we're looking for competent professionals that can do the job AND have a team first attitude. Can't see how his current mentality fits into the culture we want. Unless they are trying to rescue/rehab him. But if he was so open to that, he'd have accepted that offer by now.

So don't let the door hitya where the Good Lord splitya.

5 blocks per game but mainly because they're constantly out of position and leaving their man open
