So, DeMarco Murray of the Dallas Cowboys has accomplished what no back in NFL history ever accomplished before. Seven games to start a season over 100 yards a game. How big (or not so big) of an accomplishment do you think it is. I'm a Cowboys fan, but also an NFL history fan, and think it's pretty big. We're talking Jim Brown, OJ, ED, Barry Sanders, Emmit, etc.

Not very big. If you got 100 and 100 in back to back games and I got 99 and 250, who did better? But your scenario is the "100" mark. Impressive, but he'll be judged on total yards at the end of the year. Break 2000 barrier or approach d***ersons mark and it'll be a season for the ages. Right now, just a good start.

Also, history doesn't bode well for a RB getting that many touches. Injuries are a real concern.

Injuries have marred his career so far. I have no idea how he's staying healthy so far, but I don't see any way for that to keep up. This pace is too torrid for today's NFL.

With that being said, the record is certainly impressive so far. I'd like to see him keep this up just because of how impressive it's been.

I agree it is unlikely he will stay healthy for the entire season.

Also, John, I'm not suggesting it's greater than d***erson's season record, or Emmit's career mark. I'm just asking what you think about him having accomplished something NO ONE in NFL history has ever done before.

Also, btw, I could ask about Dan Bailey's all time FG accuracy record set this season too.

I'm impressed by Manning just breaking Favre's TD record. I just like it when players do something no one in history has done.

First I had to read your post, Time, to find out who he was. And then after reading he has rushed for 100 yards in each of 1st 7 games, my reaction is you're kidding....really....no one has ever done that before? Doesn't seem like anything "super pro football human", but hey if he is the first it must be harder than it seems. I would have bet that one of the greats..... Brown, Simpson, Sanders, Smith, Payton, Sayers, d***erson or any 10 others had done it by now. Who knew? [IMG]

Oh my ^^^^ LMAO ..... look above at how Eric d***erson's name is being edited by the software here. That is funny and sad at the same time. It's not a word sitting by itself even, the letters are in a longer word, a name in fact. [IMG] [IMG] I guess here, unlike for some reason it was not at CL ..... "pr**k" is off limits too?

[IMG] More LMAO ..... No, the pr**k word is not off limits.... I just tried it. Good to know [IMG]

I think his 100+ yards a game is impressive, but I don't know how anyone can sustain 100+ yards for a full season. Injuries will become more of a concern the deeper the Cowboys go into the season.

Teams will load up the box on Dallas as the season goes forward. It was wise of the organization to solidify their O-Line. Now it is paying dividends. Collinsworth remarked that the current make-up of team reminds him of the 1990's version. A bit of a stretch but there are some similarities. The defense has been a big surprise so far. Maybe it was Rob Ryan that was the cause of last season's dismal showing on that side.

Murray will not sustain the streak but he looks like he's in for a breakout year. Of course, he has to stay healthy along with the road pavers up front. Romo will not be called on to make/force plays on his own which usually led to one or two critical turnovers.

    It's impressive for sure.

But he will be judged on what he does the last 7 games of the season, rather than the 1st seven.

He goes over 100 in those games and gets the Boys to the playoffs, enjoy your MVP DM, you earned it.

I hope teams start stacking the box. The Giants did, Boys still ran on them AND took advantage of Dez getting single coverage.

    Pick your poison.

    I think it's impressive.
An impressive accomplishment doesn't mean an impressive career or player.
But this is a pretty darn impressive start to the season for DM.
