Around this time last year I posted in the Transactions thread that if it took throwing in Reaves to get Russ for Turner/Hield done, we should do it. Just a friendly reminder to never listen to anything I say here because I am a moron lol.

I like this USA team. I really like JJJ, he's awesome defensively and was the only guy on that Grizzlies team that didn't annoy me. I like Banchero, he's legit. Edwards is one of my favorite non-Lakers in the league, I hope to see him in the purple and gold one day. Brunson is a fun throwback PG and Haliburton is so smooth out there.

Seems like with Luka at (a) guard spot, (is he for Slovenija?) .... maybe Brunson ought not start?

See starting Shroder with 2 other guards vs Denver game 1.

Hard to say 50+ mil is screwing anyone over, and if there were no other offers, they stepped up with the maximum possible. But if he plays like we think he can, his next contract will dwarf this one for sure. By then he's already in generational wealth territory. What the heck do you even do with 200+ million contracts. Only so many houses/things you can buy that even make sense. I'd buy a castle probably haha. Complete with moat and crocs, guided historical tours, etc.

It's certainly life changing money, more than any of us will make in our lifetime. Getting that kind of money for playing a game is wild when you think about it. All that said, he'll likely bring home closer to 1/3 of that.

Here's AD's take home for comparison

Again, not feeling sorry for them. It's an insane amount of money and they should get taxed the hell out of. But maybe hold off on the moats and castles until the second year of the contract. That is unless you ignore the tax man like Nick Cage, but then they'll eventually take it all back, penalize you and you'll be taking any job that pays to pay the debt back.

I have to imagine castle and moat maintenance is pretty expensive. Mansion upkeep can be a lot. For comparison sake, the mega-mansion Evander Holyfield once had here in GA was a million a year in upkeep (electricity not included).

Also, if any of the athletes gets divorced... especially in Cali, they might be broke in hurry. Fisher got hit with $1.3 million per year in spousal support and $180,000 per year in child support and that was 7 years ago.

the arenas rule screwed him over. it's just such a rare case--that a second year player drafted in the second round is worth double the mid-level. i still think the new rules that allow for three-year contracts for 2nd rounders will probably lead to the end of the arenas provision, as teams will still be able to keep their high-performing young guys but those guys won't have their contracts artificially restricted.

all that said, if the spurs or rockets wanted him, they could have offered him the big bucks. they chose not to, so here we are.

    i'm not complaining!

i'm not sure i trade him for herro or green, tbh.

salary considered, i wouldn't trade him for lavine (maybe even without salary considered there) or thompson.

all of this in a vacuum--i'm not interested in trading reaves at all, given the composition of our team. just thinking if you were starting from scratch and needed a sg.

Not trading AR for: Beal, Klay (at this point in his career he does little more than shoot), Green, CJ (same reason as Klay AND he play even smaller than he already is), probably Murray. No idea about Maxey. It's a wash with Bane. Lavine is as cooked as the other two old geezers.

So... bottom line, out of that list I'd trade him for Booker (and then vomit), Edwards, Mitchell and Brown. That's it. And considering he makes like 4th of their salary.... HELL NO.

Oh, and mandatory -- he PG, not SG :)

There are growing concerns that Latvia star Kristaps #Porzingis might miss the #FIBAWC due to injury. Understood it is something with his foot. Staff, himself and Boston C Bags will wait until the last moment to make a decision.

And BTW Luka is back from injury ,got triple double vs Montenegro

so it will be interesting to see him against AR and this turrible USA roster
