Being a Polish Immigrant I came to the US In 89, I was 13 and just missed the back2back Lakers titles and all of their 80s titles . The first ever Lakers title I saw was vs AI and Philadelphia.

Another quote from Russo's interview with AR yesterday

The grind is something Reaves enjoys, and he understands all too well that he’s not alone on this path from undrafted to difference maker. The Miami Heat, as Reaves points out, featured plenty of undrafted players and made the NBA Finals this past June.

“Yeah, for sure,” Reaves said when asked if he thinks other players can look up to him as a form of motivation for themselves.

“But, you know, me and then you got, what was it, four guys on Miami, maybe more, that were undrafted, went to the Finals, played a big piece of them getting there. Yeah, anytime you hear guys that go undrafted and kind of start paving their way in the league, you know, you kind of gravitate towards them if you don’t know them, just knowing the grind that it was and the kind of disrespect that you got, even if it was high school, college, whatever it was. It’s definitely always good to see that path kind of work for people.”

And a recap of an exchange during practice

On Thursday, as Team USA did post-scrimmage shooting drills, players broke off into smaller groups to get shots up. Reaves was in a three-man shooting group alongside Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets. The vibes, as the kids would say, were immaculate among the trio as they routinely were caught laughing amongst one another and even attempting to block each other’s shots from behind and then giggling about it.

While Reaves talked to a few reporters, Bridges and Johnson playfully ripped into him and caused Reaves to blush. Reaves, for as much as his talent on the court, is a connector off of it.

Reaves: Staying in L.A. was his preferred plan
One of the players Hart was referring to in terms of getting a new deal this summer was Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves, who signed a four-year, $54 million deal as a restricted free agent last month.

Reaves, 25, said his goal was always to return to the team that brought him in as an undrafted free agent two years ago, and for whom he has become a critical player.

"The whole time it was, 'Get back to L.A.,'" Reaves said. "That's where I want to be. It feels like home to me. I've said that multiple times before the free agency stuff, but it was different. I had a stressful probably 10 hours, but after that, when it was done, couldn't be more excited with the situation, with the team that we got, going back to L.A." Part of the stress, he said, was figuring out the kind of deal he would be getting. The Lakers could only offer him a four-year, $54 million contract due to Reaves being an early Bird restricted free agent, meaning one with only two years of service. Another team with cap space could have given him more money on a four-year deal, but ultimately none of them decided to sign Reaves to an offer sheet the Lakers would've been expected to match, setting up a return to Los Angeles -- the outcome Reaves was always hoping for.

"We played out every scenario," Reaves said "My agents, we talked probably literally like 10, 11 hours straight that night about what we wanted in the contract, years, whatever. "But like I said, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

post-lebron, ingram would be a great guy to bring on board. porque no los dos?

BI's a UFA in 2025, and NO is a mess, imo. if he doesn't sign an extension before that, i imagine we'll be sniffing around a trade there.
