it's so unfair to overhype these kids -- it's virtually impossible for him to live up to expectations now -- i do agree that he went to the right organization that will develop and nurture him and won't simply throw him to the wolves, so to say... i really hope the kid pans out, and on a side note, we'll see how a similarly-framed chet works out this year too -- allegedly he has put on some muscle.

3rd string vet min; insurance for looney injury. I’d have taken him. High hoop iq, big body.
jazz did Philly a favor. Think that’s possibly below market value.

would think if sixers match, wood doesn’t want to go be third string there.

I think Wemby is going to be really good. How good? Time will tell. Bron is the only one to live up to or exceed the expectations that were put on him before his senior prom. I don't think he's Bron, but I also don't think he's Telfair.

The instincts, awareness, and IQ are all there. The physical stuff can be taught. The mental cannot. His biggest hurdle to longterm success is his body. No one that height has had a long, healthy NBA career. His team is working with him on a lot of lower lower extremity stuff already. Maybe that helps. None of the other giants worked on preventative measures starting in their teenage years.

With that length, defense will be years ahead of where he's at on offense. The blocking ability and switchability (was on Miller a fair bit last night), he can anchor their D. Offensively, there's work to be done. He keeps the ball too low and he was getting it constantly ripped and poked away. As soon as he was getting into the paint, the contact really bothered him. He has to get used to the physicality even before he's able to add weight and muscle. Having him settle for 3s isn't the answer. His shot was not there, but the form and confidence was. The accuracy before he got to this stage was fine, so that'll return. The passing and ability to lead the break looked better than I expected. They should have him operate closer to the FT line than beyond the 3pt line. All that will get smoothed over in camp, they're not going to have that after 1-2 summer league practices with players he'll mostly never play with again.

He gotta bullseye on his back ! Even the guards were trolling him last nite. He is gonna get killed going up against Embiid, giannis, Lopez bros , even Kevin love . This isn’t the French league . Save your paycheck kid .

I didn't base my opinion on his 1st summer league game. To even suggest thar is insulting.

My opinion is based on his body type (I'm positive he won't finish the season), lack of a true position due to that and skill set and stats of 1st picks being relative busts.

Again, had Zingis, which I think what Wemby is going to be, been drafted 1st, would you say he is a bust?

Yao was much more physically suitable to the NBA when he started.

I think Wemby will be fine basketball wise. Spurs will figure out how to best use him and he naturally needs to get stronger.

we will see if he ends up being generational or not but nothing from last night soured me on him.

Wemby’s just too damn long and gangly. Most players with that type of frame don’t have a career like Durant.

The skills are all there, but I worry about injuries with players like that.

I didn't watch his whole game, but in the portion I saw, he was really struggling with any contact. He looks like a freakishly tall boy among men out there.

He looked like the guy who brought the ball to a pick up game, so they let him play . He looked like he had no business being out there, but I am sure he will win the Spurs 5 rings just like Timmy .

eventually, there will be a unicorn. A true 7'6" with guard like skills who can dribble and move with ease and fluidity, hit 3's and be a dominant force inside. Someday, there will be a guy like this, but not sure that this is that guy. That being said, I am not sure he isn't that guy. Whatever he becomes, it is going to take a couple of years for me to see it come to fruition and hopefully who won't end out constantly injured.

On a side note, I'm glad free agency is pretty much done for us. No Kyrie drama, no Harden/Lillard trade drama like other recent off seasons.

Or it's because he was coaching his son at the same venue that morning and that was more important to him than to fly out to Vegas to watch Wemby in person. I'm sure he has dvr.
