This is dejavu all over again. We were KILLING Mitch for waiting out for the "Home Run" deal years ago, while letting the Jermaine O'Neal's of the world to slip through our fingers. Well, he shut us the hell up by landing Pau and going to 3 straight Finals (winning 2, of course). All I'm saying is, they're taking a calculated risk by waiting for the big fish, but they must have a feeling they're actually still in it with these guys rather than a longshot because they're losing out of the solid role players out there. Guess we'll see, but they've earned the benefit of the doubt with me for now.
That is what I deem unfair...unfortunate side of sports and fandom. The one positive is that the kid has confidence. It is up to the Laker brass to provide him ample support or they will take some of the criticism too. Maybe some of Clarkson's "chip on the shoulder" attitude rubs off on him.
But if this is exactly what they did last year and they failed then why you alright with them doing it again?
Boozer, Kidd, KG and others, I definitely remember the years when Mitch was getting killed daily on CL & LG. It all changed on Feb 1, 2008. I truly hope to see a similar result in this situation, otherwise it might be true that the Magic is gone.
Two, three fairly attractive gals to hang with are more fun than that one hot one. It leads to the hot one asking herself "Huh, what the hell does he have...?"
Agreed. I just people would wait and have faith before committing hara-kiri. I don't trust the media. I don't think the Lakers were ever out of this.
I hear ya. And I'm not dismissing that very real possibility either. Just reminds me of where we were when we were trying to climb the mountain before. Mitch & Co. has earned more of my benefit of the doubt, is all. I'll be plenty pissed if we come up empty this Summer again, believe me. Thank God for D'Angelo & Julius.
I think he's referring to the 2005, 2006, 2007 years. Remember the KG mockups in Laker jerseys all over CL? Remember the Marcus Banks GOAT threads? Remember "no Deng, no deal" It's funny because I feel like now is exactly like 8-10 years ago. I have that same feeling about us and what the hell are we doing and how do we improve.
I get it, I just am not as ready to give them the benefit of the doubt anymore. My patience has worn thin. We're no longer sitting on Kobe the best playe4 in the world and one big trade away from competing. We're sitting a bunch of youngsters and no FAs. My faith is indeed shaken.
^ And that's the key difference. Which is all the more reason I don't think the FO is going to panic if we don't nab a big time or even middle-tier FA. I wrote a post last night about how I think the FO is completely fine with standing pat.
