I don't remember Lonnie performing badly per se, he just fell out of the rotation but was a productive player still. The way Cranjis stated it, Lonnie was the worst shooter and defender we could of got, he was average to good in general last year.

i don't think it happens, but he's probably as good a value on the mle as one could expect to get. i think of some of the defensive lineups you could put out there with him, AD, and vando (and maybe schroder?) as options...

yes. he was wrong. there was also a lot of talk about how his bad shooting years were him and his good shooting years weren't. and then he shot pretty well. who'd have thought that someone who had shot well once before could possibly do it again after a single year of not shooting well? insanity!

If Russell gets 20 million, Lakers end up with not quite enough for the full mid level. Unless Vanderbilt and/or JHS are dealt or something, we end up with about 7 million to use on a player. Lakers could theoretically use 7 million of the MLE on one player, the full BAE on another player, and save the remaining 5.4 million to possibly sign or absorb another player via trade later, which is unlikely.

 

A pipe dream would be Brook Lopez signing for the 12.4 and Robin Lopez signing for the vet minimum. They could finish their playing days close to Disneyland.

 

Not necessarily. Here was a breakdown that included using the full MLE and BAE, with DLo projected at $18.25M. But this also includes bringing back Beasley at $7.4M.



So it may limit your ability to bring back Beasley (or Lonnie), but DLo at $20M should still allow you to use the full MLE and BAE.

But yeah, as much as having DLo on a short term deal with a team option sounds great, the $20M number still sounds a tad too high. He’s not getting that anywhere else on the open market.

All the Lakers chatter seems to revolve around guards. After we just drafted two guards, and expect another young guard to be in our rotation this season in Max.
