Glad to see Carter on our board as a backup plan

    so the money then:
    lebron 47.5
    AD 42.5
    reaves 12.5
    vando 4.5
    jhs 3
    christie 2
that's 112 we know is there

then 12.5 + 4.5 for the mle and bae puts you at 129.

that means you have 43 million left:

    dlo: 20
    rui: 15
3 vet mins (guessing gabriel is one, lewis is another)

if schroder walks, bae is a center, if not, c position is vet mins again.

    i could live with it.

but again, if someone shows up and offers rui 20, it's over, and you have no way of replacing rui.

He definitely addresses weaknesses. He rebounds. He's a wing stopper which we don't have (LeBron and Rui aren't Durant, Kawhi, Tatum stoppers). And he plays all games, which is a hot commodity nowadays, notably in our roster

I imagine a MLE pursuit means Reaves, Rui and Dlo are locked. If they are retained, you only need one more guy in your core rotation and you get it with the MLE. Beasley and Bamba are insurances if Dlo, Rui or Reaves walk. Because if one of them does, you don't have 2nd apron concerns if you keep both because it's one less 12-20M in your books.

IF rui and dlo are locked, we should know already. today's the day on bamba/beasley, and we've heard nothing.

btw, the league's going to hit us with tampering charges if we sign brown, right? we'd have to be clearing decks with EXTREME confidence.

    Is that still a thing?

Bamba is gone. One to go

Would be interesting if Bamba signed back for less

My understanding is that by waiving Bamba, we forfeit his bird rights. So bringing him back for cheaper would be difficult, unless maybe we use BAE on him?

Meanwhile for Beasley, declining team option means we keep bird rights and could bring him back on a cheaper deal without having to use an exception

if we clear the decks to use the mle without having the mle in the bag, that would be...super bad.

Best thing about FA is we never know what's going to happen, for good or for worse. I never saw us losing Caruso. Maybe we pull a rabbit out of the hat this year. It's always exciting as hell, and that makes the NBA what it is.

    Do it, Rob.

I'm not sure Bamba is getting more than the minimum tbh. I think there's still some potential there but he showed close to nothing after we traded for him.

I like the names we've been attaached to but they've mostly been guards/wings... can we shore up the big man rotation please

I’m not confident on Bruce Brown, especially if he’s meeting with Dallas, I think he’s using us. We don’t typically get the biggest free agents, they usually end up where the biggest money is. But, maybe the Lakers know something we don’t, you’d hope so if they’re waving Bamba in this super weak class of FA Centers.

If we're going the full MLE route, I would think (hope) they at least have a group of guys they're interest in and at least one that they know will sign here if they get the offer. Brown is probably at the front of the list, I could see Harrison Barnes too. Maybe even (gulp) Dillon Brooks.

I wouldn't worry about Brooks. That'll never happen. He folded like a 7-2 off-suit in the playoffs.

    Brown meeting with Mavs.

Teams can also offer him more and strike a sign and trade. Denver would be interested if they lose him for nothing. And his cap hold is low. Maybe McGee and a couple seconds
