Coach not sticking up for you is a huge red flag. Especially with the other rumored issues.

Why would you fire a coach for sharing his honest feelings about a player who obviously did not meet expectations?

that reeks of such ridiculous entitlement, but not a surprise these days

On the other side of that, Villanova will probably fire him, because, ultimately, their money comes from top recruits joining their program, which will happen less if the coach is not a puppet... and doesn't blindly support you if you didn't fulfill your part of the deal.

nova made their name on second-tier recruits that stayed, won a lot, and became solid pros. whitmore was a departure that i'm guessing they won't bother with again.

very curious to see what happens with him, as, obviously, he could easily be a laker right now and has a ton of talent.

time will tell if the coach was being petty, as the tweeter implies, or if the coach just didn't want to pin his reputation to a guy he thinks would undercut it.

I have to believe the coach understands how much not supporting a player could potentially impact himself and the program. That’s why that raised my eyebrows.

I’d be curious to see if he or the program addresses this rumor as that’s definitely something other coaches would use against him when recruiting.

But overall, if a kid comes in, seems off, has a bad workout and I call the coach to get more information and he doesn’t give a solid review of the kid, then I totally get teams passing unless they had multiple picks.

Sometimes what you don’t say speaks more volumes than what you do.

in this case the coach likely did not cost the kid millions. He did that to himself. Any coach proud of the effort and attitude his players gave would rave about the athlete.

since this didn’t happen and he wouldn’t lie about it, it’s a red flag

Maybe the kid in college who’d like all these guys been so dominant all the way up, plus with his size and athleticism …. had the Big Head and was a PITA to coach? Weren’t there comments at the combine there was a kind of didn’t act like he even wanted to be there attitude as well?

With everything going on with Jah and Zion, I gotta think character was a big thing on the mind of every team. Especially for us given how bright the lights are here.

Yes, your big time to shine, and people started going to your coach excessively wondering "Is he always like this?"

If you can pick a lottery talent, are you volunteering for Ja if you can similar talent without the headaches and bad press, missed games, tarnished reputation, crappy press releases, damage control, etc.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

“Cancel Culture” is pathetic, weak minded, and shouldn’t have any place in a Country that used to accept Free Speech.

No not necessarily but some do from a recruiting standpoint.

Why did someone make a stat called LEBRON and did “someone” pay them to do it?

Absolutely. I think that type of criteria is getting more and more valued in recent years. Almost as much as talent. There's more players who have less talent but better mental approach succeeding in NBA than the opposite
Or the coach is wrong and has a personal beef for whatever reason with the kid. I agree with you that it's probably a red flag, but we can't take a person's opinion as an overall truth without knowing more
