That could be true, but is CP3 the answer? They couldn't add a younger fit to help?

Oh I agree. I don’t think CP3 is the answer.

I think this is a low key good trade for Golden State. Getting out of the Poole contract is big for their future tax ramifications. Plus CP3 is setting the table for Steph and Klay who are solid shooters. Unfortunately that team is still missing a solid SF or two.

Also I think pick swaps are an interesting value proposition. Where you might not be able to get many first rounders for a player, getting a ton of pick swaps seems interesting. What’s better 2x straight firsts or 5x pick swaps? I think the pick swaps have higher upside because they can be consecutive and teams are willing to trade far more of them.

17 is a pretty good pick. I'm looking forward to seeing what we end up doing today. That plus the Bamba and Beas expiring could bring us someone good if we trade it. If not and a good trade isn't available I'm also cool with the pick!

Pick swaps are great if the other team sucks more than you do. With the Wizards history, I don't know if they will actually turn out to be a big deal. It was said by a lot of media folks, that New Orleans would clean up on their pick swaps with us in the AD trade. Didn't really pan out like that. At least the Wizards got something, that might be valuable I guess.

    I understand the move.
They needed leadership. Badly. Otherwise they would lose this great young core they put up. It's an hefty price but had to be aggressive or this team would derail. It's hard to get that level of leadership in the FA, so I get the move.
I love Tyrus and also think he asked out. Memphis did good for him
We are fine. We were the best team in the league after trade. We lost the WCF because we were in playoff mode since February. We were absolutely gassed. With a training camp together and a full season, this team is a big contender.
I'm fine in running it back and have a slow summer. But I also think Pelinka will pull out a move and I'm fine with that, he's good
Yeah they are going full on this window with Curry. I get why, they built a dinasty and want to milk it until the end.
On the other hand, if this was the Lakers it would be like trading Dlo for CP3 to go full-on LeBron window. Would you do it? I'm not sure I would do that, it's a tough one

getting out of the poole contract is good, but for a 38 year old chris paul whose best days are behind him? i can't see him being the difference maker for that team

Yeah. That’s how I see it. I think Paul as a backup is fine but I don’t think it improves a team like the Warriors especially since we know he will get hurt.

That’s the thing, he doesn’t need to be. He just needs to be better than Poole in the playoffs for one year, I still think that’s possible.

But moving forward you can just cut him and get out from a bad contract that is Poole. Make no mistake that’s a terrible contract that would just sink Golden State in their last few years of Curry, Klay and Green.

The problem is that Malik and Mo's expiring contracts are worth 27M. If we are keeping Austin, Rui, and D'Angelo...we won't have much money left, to fill out the rest of the roster, while staying under the 2nd tax apron either. That's with looking at it on the cheap, Austin/Rui 25M D'Angelo 20M.

    Depends on your team's window.
Suns' 4 swaps they sent to Washington look scary, but there's a good possibility the Wizards also suck. So maybe you are trading a #6 for #4.
It's basically a free trade up in the future, it's a nice thing to have but I don't think is better than a straight FRP because on that deal you still keep your own so you got 2 bites in the first round

We weren't gassed..D'Angelo no showed and Malik didn't play at all. I'm not convinced that a full training camp is going to fix that. The West won't be the same this upcoming season. I'm as optimistic as always, but damn..getting swept doesn't leave me exactly all warm and fuzzy about the situation.

If we can fan cast the Turner deal into existence, I'll be front row for that movement. I just don't see it and I've yet to hear from anyone why the hell the Pacers do that deal.

WHO predicted any of these recent trades going down? If anyone had predicted these trades beforehand, NOBODY would have believed it.

2028 and 2030 are years out, what happens if they bottom out soon and draft a few solid players. Could be a scenario where they are swapping 17 for 4 just as easily.

You're arguing against the point you're trying to make. The Turner trade has been predicted for a year now. The why hasn't been explained from a non biased place and the reason why: it doesn't make any sense for a Pacers team trying to compete. Moving Turner now is a step in the wrong direction unless it's an upgrade. If AD isn't going there, we're not giving them an upgrade.

That ship sailed after Turner proved himself this season.
