I’m intrigued by the AD and Porgy fit. I think I like it because of his floor spacing. Also, what if Handy would be able to turn the Unicorn into a good defender? Yeah, I like it.

Porzingis was actually pretty damn good protecting the rim this year. If last year was fluky and his injury concerns flare up again, well he's a free agent next year. Giving up #17 for a potential rental isn't great, but he's probably the best talent we could realistically land this offseason IMO.

Our #17 pick won’t be able to impact the game this up coming season like Porgy could. The window is nearly shut on the AD/LeBron Title shot, and it may take several seasons to steal that 1A player away to replace LeBron.

As a backup and AD insurance is awesome, but don't think we go that route. He has a long salary too. Also think Ham don't see AD playing the 4 out.

The deal is not officialized because Washington wants to make it a bigger trade and get better pieces out of the deal, rerouting CP3. And there may be suitors. If they go into rebuild and let Porzingis and Kuz walk/trade, they can take bad contracts and picks out of it. They were forced to do the Phoenix deal but now they have a say if they extend it.
I also imagine the Wizards PR leaking fake news on potential teams interested in CP3 to make someone react.

Longer contract with Warriors for less salary (like 3/50)

Damn, that's a steal. But they may bite. As long he's healthy when AD is not, he's perfect.
I mean, at that price we could even survive if he's out in the playoffs. That's how good that trade would be. I'm guessing Dallas is more aggressive than that, or Portland.

“If we talk about that Denver Phoenix series from a month ago and you put Bradley Beal in the Shamet spot, is that series any different? Because I don’t think so”

Yeah the only reason we'd even be in the ballpark is because KP has the player option for next season. The most recent rumblings have been that he's going to exercise it rather sign long-term in Washington. He could theoretically tell someone like Portland he's not in re-signing there but I don't think he'd do that, with his injury history he probably just wants to get paid and be in a good situation. Dallas trading something to get him back after they dumped him would be hilarious.

I’m not one to defend Simmons, but is he wrong? Phoenix didn’t lose that series because they lacked scoring. They lacked depth and defense. Shamet is nowhere near the player Beal is, but I agree the Nuggets still win that series if you swap the 2.

i think i'm the only one who'd stay away from porzingis? last year was an aberration, and he still only played 65 games. i wouldn't give up #17 and expiring salaries (beasley/bamba) for him. keep in mind that probably would put our payroll sky high, too.

now...i might consider s&t russell for him under the right circumstances.

yeah, it's not as dumb as it sounds at first, but everything gets easier for other players when you multiply stars.

he's right in that the biggest problem was them trotting out some barely-nba-quality dudes who had barely played together, though.

When it comes to salary matching, we’d be operating under the 2023-2024 numbers now right? If so, I’m seeing Porzingis at $36 million if he opts in to the PO.

I don’t think Beasley/Bamba would be enough to make that work. Looking at salaries, I think we’d have to include Vanderbilt too. As many limitations as Vanderbilt has, I think we still need him for defensive wing matchups. For example in a series against the Suns, he would be super important, and I don’t think we’d be able to replace him on the FA market

I would love to somehow get Porzingis, and maybe you use that trade to get CP3 too (for example, add in a second to convince the Wizards to buy out CP3 knowing you’d then be able to sign him for the minimum… although that’s probably illegal), I’m just not sure it could actually work out

that is illegal, hj. i mean, probably not for pat riley. but for most.

i like that the clips are so desperate to keep cp out of here that they're considering trading for his contract. that's wild.

btw, pretty sure the clips would send morris and then one of batum or covington in a cp deal (don't think washington takes s&t'd gordon). so they'd lose at least one quality wing. but i guess they didn't play morris and covington much at the end.

Lol WTF, don't know why I mentioned Dallas ahah
But yeah, the dude certainly only wants to get paid and rightfully so, considering is injury history

Absolutely, that's what I think of this trade. Although, the offense will open up for sure. And the 3 together will be fun in the regular season. Problem will be availability which then translates to lack of chemistry in postseason. That and the fact that in the playoffs you prepare matchups to the tiniest detail. That's why the Rui, Lonnie Walker, Grant, Horford, Brown and Brauns of this league are winning you playoff tough games

For me was mostly because of the package (but someone pointed out that the salary doesn't match). Interesting that you see Dlo as a worse package than Beasley/Bamba/#17. Do you rank the pick high? Dlo for me is our best asset, followed by the #17 and 29 pick
