separately--has there been any more info on this kuz to la stuff? i don't see a path (nor a particular need with rui in the fold), but it was weird that somebody threw that out there. could just be the ol' use laker interest to keep your guy's name in the press, i guess.

i feel like a couple cap space teams should make a run at him with something in the 20 per range. utah and indy. with him leaving washington a legit possibility now, rui's market gets a little more crowded, which is good for us.

Woj and Windy on Get Up both think Clippers have the edge over us in getting CP3 if he's bought out.

what's the reasoning? why would he want to play there instead of with lebron for the actual franchise? the money's the same, as would be the role, i'm guessing.

this would actually surprise me. i could, however, see the clippers trade for him so that we can't sign him for the vet min.

They covered it during two separate segments on Get Up and I still don't understand their logic. Just what they're hearing. He and Clipps ended on good terms. Both Woj and Windy did say that they heard he'd want to come to LA to be there with his family. It'd be between the two LA teams.

Stephen A stopped by to insert some logic (don't get to say that often), he says he thinks he'll go to the Lakers and sees them as the first choice.

CP3 will be on First Take tomorrow.

If we start hearing more about trading Beasley/Bamba/17 for something ahead of the draft Thursday I think that would signal they feel good about CP3 coming.

Also worth mentioning that Woj and Windy aren’t typically the ones breaking Lakers news. Haynes is tight with CP3 and Klutch, he’s the one I’d look out for.

We sort of already have our Kuz type with Rui. However, I’m not opposed to stockpiling quality wings AT ALL. Especially with Lebron entering season 21.

Kuz is solid. An experienced championship piece. Already know he can both fit with Bron and drop 30 on any given night without him.

Should be interesting to see who wants to join the Suns. I think they keep Ayton as their big, get rid of the guy who chaffed Ayton the most in CP2, and are basically stuck adding minimal level contracts.

seems like a bad fit unless they all agree they are going to sacrifice and can get on the same page.

either way, should be interesting to watch

Yeah, weird that Kuz news are low. He's one of the best FAs available. Don't get all our link, probably only for clicks.
He's a no brainer for Indy. They need a scorer and he should fit well with Turner. Can really grow in that role and fits Hali window and game.

Next 2 weeks will be craaaazy. There's so many dominos to fall.
We now have CP3 and Porzingis clearly going somewhere else. Kuzma may too. Then we have the Lillard situation, multiple picks in the top 10 who teams are willing to trade, Dallas to make a move and guys like Vleet, Collins, Harden who no one knows where they'll play or teams like Toronto, Atlanta or Chicago who are up for overhauls. Then you add the new CBA and teams adjusting for it. I think it's going to be the most crazy offseason in years. He's it just me?

I can see the Spurs trading for Scoot. Wouldn't be crazy

I get what everyone is saying about Durant needing team-ups and what not, but I wonder if that is all because of OKC. Like he was the star more so than Harden and Westbrook. Maybe he realized he didn’t want to be blamed for the failure anymore? Not that he could hide from it here or in Brooklyn, but still. It’s at least a little easier to say “Well, it’s not just me that lost the game, we all lost it.”

either way, we have another Super team, that either works out by luck, or falls short badly and then we’re all back to square 1

I don’t know how this will work out for the Suns, but I do think the whole “3 star model doesn’t work” thing is a bridge too far. If someone had Curry, Giannis and Jokic all on max contracts with minimums and one TPMLE guy I don’t think anyone would be saying they were stupid to build that team. It’s not that 3 stars doesn’t work, you just HAVE to be right about the third star. It didn’t work for us because Russ was arguably the worst possible fit in the league with LeBron and AD, plus he’d declined to the point that he really isn’t a star anymore. We also got zero games out of or TPMLE guy in 2022 and missed on pretty much every minimum signing.

I don’t see a move out there this off-season for us to get the perfect third star, so we should stick with our 2 star build. I just think the NBA, and basketball in general, is too complicated to say this model doesn’t work period. The only model that “works” is accumulating as much talent as possible that fits together.

I like Watanabe. Maybe I just saw him on the right nights, but I thought he looked like someone who could play 10-15 minutes every night. I’d like Lyles too.

Availability is a concern but there's an idea. Haven't thought about this one.

There's other bigs I'd target target if we go that route, but you can only buy from sellers and anytime there's a Klutch connection you know it'll likely get linked even if a favor for the agency.

So far after the Beal trade, Haynes has also only mentioned the Clippers in his tweet about “Wizards likely to reroute Paul to a contender”. No mention of a likely buyout with Lakers being at the top of the list. I think Woj/Windy are pretty reliable too, sounds like there is legitimately starting to become smoke for CP3 to the Clips…

Almost wonder if part of that is from Washington angling for us to trade the Beasley/Bamba package to THEM for CP3

I would hesitate to do that even if it was a straight up deal with no draft compensation. Don’t like the opportunity cost of forgoing other potential trades that package could be used to acquire. Including draft compensation in that package to get CP3 would be catastrophic
