It's a good point that Buha also made in the article that it doesn't make sense for CP to take anything other than the minimum because he's only doing the Suns a favor. It's just taking away from the money that they would owe him. CP is petty, if Suns cut him loose I don't see him doing them any favors.

Interesting, I’m guessing CP3’s contract would be involved in a Phoenix trade

Curious how that would work. Would Washington just keep CP3 or would they just cut him to get the cap savings?

I think it's a leverage play to get more out of Miami.

MIA is the smart play for Beal. They just went to the Finals. Still think Bucks and Cs a little better, but Playoff Jimmy is still a thing for a couple more years. Suns still have to slug it out with a balanced West. They aren't getting any stops on D and each star has to average 45 MPG.

    Lowry, 'Dipo, Jovic + picks?

They'd definitely cut him. That's all the Suns have to offer is CP's cap relief. Unless the Wizards think Ayton is a worthwhile trade asset. Wizards have already said they want cap relief if they move Beal and CP has leaked he wants to contend if he moves on. He drives straight to Crypto/Staples as soon as that trade is announced.

if we were about to get beal for nothing, there would be an uproar, but now he's an albatross and the suns and heat are doing washington a favor by giving them their dead veteran pgs on huge contracts.

Beal for CP, Shamet and 2nd rounders is a bad headline for the NBA. I think this might be the end of the no-trade clause.

Another interesting piece to this that Stein just reported on is the Wiz are feeling heat (pun intended) to get this done before draft night. If the Blazers can't land a big fish for Simons + 3, the fear is they shift to moving Dame and MIA would prefer that deal if it was on the table but it's not... at least not for another few days.

Jimmy Buckets with Dame would be a real Mamba Mentality duo. That would be fun to watch, as well as a team to fear making it back to the Finals.

Just like I thought, CP and Shamet. No matter how good the return can the Suns really give up more players than they take back in any trade? Seriously. They have to hit a homerun on each vet min signing just to field a 8 man rotation.

Also, if the Lakers are wanting CP then we need to be rooting for the MIA deal. That's a dragged out buyout process and uncertainty entering free agency.

I really don’t understand why some consider him such a modern era great. He only proved something after joining one of the best squads of all time. Every big time player needs help, but this guy continues to show us that without teaming up with two of the best shooters of All Time, in their prime, he’s Fool’s Gold.

It would literally be like us getting Beal for Westbrook’s contract, Troy Brown, and whatever draft compensation Phoenix even had left.

It would be perfect if the Suns trade goes down. That model is prone to fail and Booker could probably be available in 2/3 years because that franchise is burning.
Plus, we would probably get CP3 for the vet min

i like all three of those deals and can see the value for the other teams, too. i feel like the trent deal is the longest shot, as he probably wants to cash in this summer instead of banking on an extension and/or a healthy season that leads to a bigger payday.

but i can definitely see the others making sense for everyone.

I know we’re joking about the Suns bench, but I’d have to believe they’d sign and trade Ayton for some bench players and then talk everyone else into Vet Mins like we did in 2021. MAYBE it works for Vogel this time?

again, let’s just get Turner and Hield and sign CP3 and sign and trade DLo to someone for some bench and then add people and we’ll be good to run it back again.

but even a trade where we still get some draft choices this year would be nice. I don’t think we need anyone fancy, but some young blood would be nice

oh yeah. and ayton's under contract, so the logistics are easier. they could easily turn him into two decent (probably overpaid) role players.

again, this is exactly the kind of thing that led to stern's veto on our cp deal. which was b*******. and the league doesn't need to step in here, either--i'm consistent. but talk about it like it is.
