Actually I don't think that's the case. I think they're thinking about how awesome it'll be to rebuild the franchise and how the fans/city will embrace them when they're competitive.
It's a shame the East sucks so much... next years pick would be ours. I hope our FO knows we need 12 players to compete, right?
everybody needs to relax. Championship or bust. It sucks to NOT get anybody but it is what it is and I have complete trust in Mitch. If we ain't getting anyone, we can still trade for someone. we need assets, that's all.
Surprise! Another stealth tanking season next year... gonna start watching scouting videos of the incoming freshmen.
Just waiting on the eventual "Lakers offered Ed the max but chose Portland because they're closer to playoffs." Tweet.
Yep...that is how the other teams are doing right now. Build a competent supporting cast for that one first tier high profile FA would find appealing to play with. What we have is an unproven draft class and 24 on his last legs. Right now, the only route to relevance is to draft wisely and let the talent develop. It will be a slow process. Our hope is what we touched on with free agents is exercised with proper due diligence and sensibility. I understand making a play for the high profile players but given what we have to offer by way of our current roster is not palatable enough for the time being. I am bothered why Laker brass while chasing the 1st tiers did not have any activity for those that are good value picks even if they are unspectacular.
I hope so. I guess you could see it as taking pressure off of them and letting them develop their identity with a little less unrealistic expectation.
This is what I've been saying the last 2 days. Russell and Randle are now our only hope. If they blossom, the free agents will be lining up. Kobe's contract didn't allow us to do anything except sign ONE premiere FA. Without that contract we could have signed one premiere and either another premiere or two 2nd tiers.
All the FA that are signing right now are basically saying the same exact thing. 1.) They like the roster, 2.) The squad is immediately in playoff contention, 3.) Other teams don't give me that opportunity As a matter a fact, that's been the general theme of any FA that left anywhere in any free agency. Build it and they will come. They made a movie about that FFS.
