When you really think about it do you even WANT a guy that doesn't believe in himself enough that he can carry the torch and be the man on a team?

If im a free agent im going in like im the best player in the league and telling them im in, we got rookies with potential get me a rim protector and some role players and i'll bring a championship to this city

What these guys are saying is i dont think im capable of being the man so let me join this other guy and ill ride his coattails

    What a crock of s***

That's what i liked about d'angelo when he said im the best player in the draft i was like we made the right pick. Even if he doesnt amount to that level at least he put the expectations on himself, it shows he's confident and willing to make it happen

We're notorious for bringing in vets past their prime. Why not keep the tradition alive

I understand that but the point is these guys dont think too highly of themselves, seems they just wanna go to a place with no pressure

Theres no more of that determination to be the best, just guys that go with the flow and if they dont win oh well they'll say they tried

I agree with everything here. It really all boils down to the level playing field the new CBA imposed. We have to do it like every other team does it. We had such a long sustained run of success with the Kobe years, now it's time to rebuild. We need to start using analytics to find some gems. We need to get past our tradition and start seeing people for who they are today. I feel like we are Kodak desperately trying to convince consumers that digital is a fad and film will be back. We are experiencing what the business world calls Creative Destruction.

Won't be easy finding guys with that "f*** it, I'll carry the team" mentality these days.

That's why you need a salesman. You need a person who is capable of selling all the incredible, wonderful aspects of the Lakers AND you need to be able to show that person your plan for the future. You need a Magic Johnson. My point is not that Monroe would be making a great decision coming here over Milwaukee. Everyone knows our roster is either unproven or proven to be bad.

The point is if we cannot sell to FAs that the LAKERS have a better shot at winning something of significance than the Milwaukee Bucks, the FO has failed. Plain and simple and I don't want to hear a lot of excuses about it. I'm not saying every player MUST pick here. I get that Aldridge and Jordan are incredible, fantastical long-shots to want to be Lakers this summer. But we can't sell Greg Monroe on a quick and smooth rebuild? Really? Greg Monroe? Greg Monroe should be a lock for a big market team that wants to rely on him as one of their tent-pole scoring options. He should be an absolute lock.

Case in point: what is so attractive about Dallas for Jordan? Jordan would be more competitive with the Clippers, but he's still on the fence at least right?

Amare? OK, that is exactly what I was complaining about today. Nash, Wade, Amare... Led by a post-surgery Kobe. Do you guys see the problem here?

Like I said, it's our tradition to bring in washed up vets. Theo Ratliff anyone?

How do you differentiate Mil and LA then. It sure seemed like exactly what you said.

What is the difference in Mil and LA if not glitz, tradition, side opportunity and location? Being able to win and be in the playoffs is the only one of those criteria that Mil has in it's favor. I'd take a guy who wants that over "tradition" any day. Tradition is the past, based on circumstances and situation that are not in the present. Winning is in the present for Mil and losing is the present for us. Tough to face but reality none the less.

Not calling you out rather the idea that the brand is all that is important. All brand values dip when the product quality is poor. To me that is what's going on. Players are smart enough to see that winning is a way to get the $$ and glitz no matter where you live.

Still don't think our FO imagined on us not only missing on the top guys, but the market moving this fast. We have no idea what to do right now.

Sure, that would be a solid core. As it is, they would not play 82 games combined.

That's pathetic. Two seasons of getting one year rental garbage in a row. If they do this I will be demanding the FO be fired and sell the team.

Complete garbage. Build a team you morons. Ohh we didn't get the top FA so we will just go straight into the dumpster and wait til next season. GTFO. Seriously. Bunch of losers with that mentality.

David Lee, a young, athetic defender, ready to run with our rookies, who happens to play center, when he isn't playing the 3.
