B/R ran an article with one ideal trade for each team this summer.

Here's what they came up with for us

Sign me up. You can turn him into a super back up and start him when either AD or Bron have injuries. AD, Bron, Rui, Collins, Vando and I'd probably hit the minimum FA bin for a traditional 3rd string C to round it out. I like that size a lot.

feel like there's plenty of options in this salary range to impove our roster if we take up the Bamba and Beasley options.

this however is really a big IF since it would be more in line with our front office to shed salary.

yeah, the author of that article seems unaware that to trade beasley and bamba, we have to pick up their options, so there would be no savings to atlanta. collins has an option year after next that he probably exercises unless he has a major injury (if only to up the total guaranteed amount).

I used to want John Collins too, all most as much as I want Myles Turner. I've kind of cooled on Collins now though, I'm more intrigued with the idea of adding Capela from the Hawks. A rebounding, lob threat that can block a shot or two, that is a good thing to have. Collins seems like he's been around forever, but he's only 25. Those two guys are both at around 20 million, and locked up for 3 more seasons. I wouldn't complain about adding either one. Collins player option is for the 25-26 season.

Collins would be like a Rui pick up in that he's in Atlanta's dog house but has the potential to break out if we do it right.

Feels like a 2012 off-season coming. We take a big swing or two to squeeze out one more title with LeBron and AD.

my issue would be that rui and collins are kind of redundant, and at rui's likely price, i think you get more value.

at this point, i'm really starting to get concerned about how to handle the dlo issue. he's ending on such a sour note, but he was a good addition for a while, too. on paper, he's perfect, but if we want a ring, we can't have him doing what he's done against denver. it's a quandary.

For me, the DLo situation is easy. Since he wilts under the pressure of the playoffs, he has to go. Sign and Trade for the best return in talent you can get.

i'd rather they just make some smaller moves to address areas of need instead of trying to acquire a 3rd star. run it back with this same group next season

definitely keep: lebron, AD, reaves, rui, vando, schroder, christie, leaning towards walker, too, tbh.

i'd still like to keep russell, but that conversation has changed a lot for me. instead of trying to avoid paying him poole money, i think we need to make sure his salary comes in under 25. i think he still has value there.

bamba and beasley will depend on what happens with dlo, imo, so hopefully we have some good, honest conversations with him prior to the opening of FA.

schroder requiring the use of our exception is a problem, particularly if russell just walked (really don't want that scenario).

Looking at S&T options, we need a guard scorer but not a 3rd star. Meaning no one making a top 40 salary, I'm not looking to go over $30m on the 3rd guy because I'm done sacrificing depth after we just fixed that problem at the deadline. That puts you in the range of someone getting votes on the all star ballot but not making the cut.

The names under those parameters who will be on the block this summer: CP, Lowry, DeRozan.

I call up Chicago. I'm pretty sure DD has a custom made Lakers jersey for himself that he wears around the house. He doesn't defend either, but he gets buckets and I don't think he goes Casper in a 16 game run. For me, the key in that deal is getting Bald Eagle back. Defense and there's not a game or moment that he's he not ready for on either end.

Bulls are in a position where they need to recoup assets they lost in their Vuc trade and are content with just getting to the playoffs for that gate revenue. As I've stated already, I don't think they can save face by moving Vuc this early. With Ball's career likely over, DLO can help in those 82. They have some cap space, we could include either or both of Beas/Mo. I think they could run a lot more actions for Beas and get him back to that top 5 volume level. Mo is better than whatever former 3rd string Lakers center they turn to next.

Really comes down to draft compensation. Would 1 unprotected and either a protected like we sent out at the deadline (it's really a 2nd rounder) or a protected swap get it done? It's a year rental on DD and one final push with Bron and AD before they make their PO decisions the following off-season.

DD and AC for DLO, Mo, Beas, one 1st and a conditional swap.

    Then you're looking at:
    AD/FA
    Bron/Vando
    DD/Rui
    AR/Christie
    AC/DS

i'd be fine with keeping beasley simply because of how badly this team lacks shooters

Lakers could use a true 5 with Jokic in the conference. Joel Embiid isn't settled in PA. Is Bamba the answer?

    I like that Collins deal

We should keep Dlo. He's been crap in postseason, but I think he gives enough during regular season that will save LeBron and AD's legs.
Maybe there's a deal near the deadline where we are interested and having him around is nice to have that option.

If we can trade Beasley and Bamba for a reasonable guy that can gives 20-25 good minutes, we need to do it. If we don't find it, I'm fine rolling with them, I think they have more to give.
We need to see the big picture here, we had absolutely no assets and sight of future 4 months ago. Now we have Dlo, Beasley and Bamba that put us in any trade conversation. Also, these guys came in with the team in 13th!! There was no time to get acclimated and learn the system, get reps and feel comfortable playing. We were basically in "win or go home" mode since then.
With a training camp, preseason and starting a regular season with less pressure can make Beasley and Bamba good role players. They fit on paper so I think they deserve a proper context to understand what they can be to us moving forward.

I'm all in favour of running it back. Our team is very complete, versatile, strong, has shooting, has defense. If they build chemistry through a whole year, we can very well be in the WCF again

Seems like there will once again be Kyrie rumors. If we could do a straight swap of DLo for Kyrie, f*** it we should probably just do it. But it won’t be. If it’s DLo + Beasley, maybe. If it’s DLo + Vando it’s a no. If it’s DLo + Rui it’s a hell no.

yeah, and as much as no one thinks lebron will be upright at the end of next year, you wouldn't go broke betting against mpj and murray being out, too.

denver's a shallow team that has EVERYONE at full strength this year. that's great for them, and it's part of the luck of the draw. we've got 70% lebron and our only credible non-AD center missed the entire playoffs.

i think we if we just showed up with the exact same team we should be among the favorites.

I'll take Kyrie as well if we could do a S&T with the Mavs. But I doubt it.

I trust Lebron to keep Kyrie in line and I think AD - Bron - Rui - Reaves - Kyrie lineup makes us instantly title favorites.
