This will be made better if someone from the FO comes out and blatantly say that they f***ed up. Every free agent probably tells you that they don't want to come because the team isn't ready. Take that as a clue that maybe you should go after the mid tier guys that will make the team better and then after that go after the one or two big names that will put the team over the hill. You can't just sign lottery-bust players to one year contracts every year and expect a big name to just sign here because we have cap space, history and a bunch of young guys that'll be ready in 3 years.... Next season is gonna be a long one.

I read that article and it's a well thought-out piece by Ding.

Now some other media hack out there will take to twitter and spin it as "Nobody wants to play with Kobe."

Monroe choosing the Bucks was probably an easy choice for him.

    His top choices were:

New York - Worst team in the east with no signs of rebuilding. Why go there?
LA - No max, a team on the build in the West.
Bucks - A team who made the playoffs in the East with one of their better players injured and a solid young core moving forward. Gave him max.

Days like today are made easier for me since the sports gods cursed me to being a Bengals fan...used to doing jack in free agency.

    That said, this still blows.

I have no problem with Kobe bringing up the past. He's speaking of his experiences, and actually, he made some good points. The Lakers FO, though, should lay out a plan for the future.

    great article

agree especially on the fo part being stuck in the past

what irks me most about these players is that nobody wants to take on that responsibility to be the man anymore. they just wanna go in and have a ring served on a silver platter (the easy way out) and like ive said before it rarely works (lebum/wade/bosh in mia and kg/pierce/allen in bos)

and as much as other people will try to discredit kobe at least he had the balls to wanna be the man

out of 100 people that wanna be the "man" maybe 1 or 2 will eventually make it happen but at least you had the courage to wanna do it

im at a point where i think 95% of these guys are SOFT

My main problem is that all these national writer are RIGHT... We have lost our appeal. No one wants to be the man in LA. No one has faith that we'll be able to build a contender.

Two years ago I never thought I'd type that.

No hate at all, at this point I probably do it. Take Lee's one-year deal and bring back whichever FAs we can of ours. Go into next season with a ton of cap space because everyone LOVES cap space.

You trade for those guys for cash straight up.

Both are expiring and would work fine.

The idea would be for teams looking to dump salary. See: Lin last season.

Hibbert is an expiring K and if you can revive his defensive prowess then I'm sold on that.

Lee? Ugh! But whatever... Beggars can't be choosers.
