You're not going to get me to appreciate many beers in the 5% abv range, but a passion fruit belgian wit is too good to pass up. It is very tart and fruity for not being a sour-style ale. There's a little "belgiany" spice to it, but not much; mostly tart and a little sweet. It's not syrupy or artificially flavored-tasting at all. It tastes like an expensive passion fruit sour ale with a tad of belgian backbone. $2.99/can is a steal. I highly recommend trying this. Enjoy it during a hot day, not at night. It's very refreshing.

The same day I saw you post about the Green Tea beer someone commented about it on a reaction to a Pro Football Focus article on the Raiders. It was weird timing.

This is another tasty summer drinker. It's close to 8%, so it'll sneak up on ya, but it's really tasty and refreshing. Lots of belgian spice, some wet hay funk, and some bitter citrus. Delish.

Big and rich sweetness. Brown sugar, caramel, and some toastiness.

Anyone tried the Golden Draak 9000 Quadruple?

Was at a party this weekend where a few people were hyping this up as the best beer they've ever had. They said they don't even drink beer ... "but this isn't a beer, it's the nectar of the gods." In my intoxicated state, I bought into the hype and almost wanted to go on a Harold and Kumar-esque journey to acquire this legendary beer.

It's a good beer, but nothing special. IMO, Rochefort 10 and St bernardus abt 12 are both better quads.

Top 3 beer ever! Most coffee-infused beers are imperial stouts, which are great, but all pretty similar. This barleywine is toffee colored and flavored with TONS of coffee. It tastes like a coffee flavored barleywine, not a barleywine with coffee, if that distinction makes sense.

IMO, the perfect gateway to craft beer. Chimay is of excellent quality, yet easy on the novice palate.

Good to see you here at lb, wiz. Isn't firestone north or Santa Barbara? I'm camping at lake cachuma right now, maybe 20 minutes from where I think firestone is.

Looks like they've got two spots. One in Buellton near you and another spot in Paso Robles.

I really enjoyed this sour. It's 9%, which is high for a sour. It's also full bodied. There's a little bit of straw funk with the mild raspberry, but mostly very tart flavor.

I'm with Punk on this one. It's fine; I've had it a couple times, but I'd only do it again if there were no other quality quads on hand.

I haven't been adding beers recently because of my wife's work schedule. It coincides beautifully with a deal at this restaurant near my work. So she'll stop by and pick me up after I'm done teaching and we go to BJ's. They do their own brewing. It's quality beer, but it's not like the Bruery. I've got to get to WoB for that.

I did, however, have a couple of tasty pints at this bar called Falcon. It was Friday night, and they were pumping smoke and 80s new wave/goth music. I was in heaven. One of them was a pecan beer. I think it was Lazy Magnolia's, but I'm not sure.

Tart saison is the perfect description because that's exactly how it tastes. It's sour, but not a sour ale. It's mostly a saison with some pronounced sourness. Lovely, but only 5.4%. Drank whole bottle and no buzz.

It was pretty good. Lots of coffee flavors. I guess i'm just spoiled to the big rich flavors of barrel aged, high abv stouts.
