Monster first Q from Vando. It was so long ago in this game that it will get overlooked, still deserves credit. Even had the corner 3 falling for him
3 corner 3s. Good energy. Little surprised that all 8 attempts were 3s. Most were good looks. If one more falls, he shoots 50% and he's a specialist.
Another solid performance from Vando tonight. Love his energy! Way to knock down those open looks from three too.
i don't think it's a coincidence that he showed up and we became a top defensive team. it wasn't the only factor (*cough*russ*cough*), but it's a factor. just the general energy, too. i think that's why he starts, despite his offensive issues. well, that and we start 4 other guys who are all pretty serious scoring threats. anyway, yeah, i'm still a fan of vando. he's an important player for us.
He's very important but it's becoming more of a debate of who should start between Vando and Rui with this post-season rise of Rui. I don't think a change is made during these playoffs, but training camp battles should be interesting (assuming we run it back).
It's situational , his defensive value will be less important in this series than during the Grizz series . He's not a good screens navigator so he can't defend Steph well enough and we can't afford many poor starts of 1st and 3rd quarter against the Warriors as he's going to be ignored on offense
if that's the big issue, i'm guessing schroder gets a look before rui. i'd have vando on klay or wiggins, though. it will at least keep them from saving possessions by isoing a smaller guy.
Wiggins and Klay are important defensive assignments too. Jarred is too tall to try and stick with Steph..that's going to be Dennis and D'Angelo's job.
Vando ran around after Ja for each game. Don’t see why he can’t chase Steph. It’s a different look to Schroeder.
Curry is always running between multiple screens, while Morant just ball handles. I think Vando can do a good job on the ball, he's long and can try to make those step back 3s a little harder, but chasing him through all those screens you probably want someone smaller and leaner
Vando, Dennis and AR will have their hands full. I think they can be somewhat successful. If Corry does not play well, I don't see how the Warriors can beat us, considering we're deeper with more consistent scorers then they are right now. But if Steph manages to open the floor for them... watch out.
Yeah, I think the key is to not let him get comfortable with one look. Keep guys rotated and fresh on him. I'd start AR on him, then Dennis, then Vando during his second shift and then start the 3rd with AR again. In minutes that doesn't cover give to Brown and then DLO if you have to.
