Interesting. My friends who spend time there are all from PR, so the crowd you're referencing may be more representative of what the athletes are up to.

Very helpful! Will give teams a much clearer picture of what their draft and FA plans need to be.

After watching the Wolves game I’m convinced they’re going to try for a third star again in the off-season. LeBron was absolutely gassed by the end of that game despite not playing any defense in the first half. It’s hard to be confident that he can play both ends of the court at a high level for 40 minutes per game over the course of multiple playoff series at his age.

I think LeBron, and the FO, still want a third star to help carry that load in the playoffs and regular season. I expect them to try and use DLO + Bamba + remaining tradable FRPs to find that guy. I’ve always thought the whole “two stars plus depth is the blueprint now” thing was nonsense; there is no blueprint. You accumulate as much talent as possible that fits together. No one would complain that a team of Curry/Tatum/Embiid/mínimums was contrary to some blueprint.

Dame is the only “third” star that I actually covet. He’s a killer.

characterizing it as a hard-and-fast blueprint isn't accurate. it's a blueprint that makes sense given our stars. if you have three stars and minimums and any of your stars is fragile or old, you're screwed. one of our stars is old (and now apparently pretty fragile) and the other is fragile. giving up all depth to get another imperfect or old star is not the way.

there is no path to curry/tatum/embiid for us. if we chuck everything out the window this summer on another 3-star gambit, we deserve what's coming.

now, if lillard could get here for russell/bamba and a pick, i'm considering it. i just don't think that will do it. we'd have to give up everything not nailed down, and portland (like bkn) will bend over backward not to let that happen.

let's just field a deep team that wins, and then if and when a star becomes available, we'll have plenty we can move in trade if we're not happy.

the other caveat is how russell's contract negotiations go. if he's demanding his max or bust, i might look hard at using him as the centerpiece in a s&t. that would be too bad, though, as russell on something starting around 25 makes a lot of sense for both him and us. he gives up a small amount to be billed as a member of a big three in a huge market.

Actually this may be their one chance to actually improve this year. They have a chance at a high lottery pick and has anyone seen this kid Shaedon Sharpe play? In one year, this kid went from a nobody in high school to a blue chip college recruit at Kentucky where he never even played before being drafted by the Blazers. This kid could be Lilliard's replacement in the future. What I have seen of him, (not a heck of a lot, but ....) he is going to be a star in this league.

That gives them two solid pieces to add to Lilliard. Hard to imagine him walking away at this point in his career. Unless he is simply wanting to ring chase before retirement and is willing to take less money and disenfranchise his core fans. Personally, if I were him, I would stay put.

he has put up some impressive numbers since Portland started sitting the starters. I think he might develop quicker than anyone anticipated.
