Thing of it is I thought the Lakers did do all the analytical stuff. I thought that's how they were judging players and scouting reports and whatnot. Did they just up and stop using them? At the very least with DJ they need to present to him how good the team will be with him signing and how competitive they will be in a year or so. Yeah they may not win a championship this year, but giving the young guys time to grow and develope chemistry and then going after another big name next year will definitely put them in the conversation then. Sell DJ on future with HIM. He's already in L.A. so no need to go into off court marketability and all that crap.
Saw Mo Williams is close to signing with the Grizzlies And with Chandler signing with the Suns (nice get) the Bucks are turning their attention to RoLo. Only thing I like about today was Cleveland keeping Love.
Terrible mentality. You a fan of midrange jumpers too? I apologize for being an a**, but... In basketball, like any business, you adapt or you get left behind. You can like it or not, but reality says take 3s and get to the cup/line, players want to double or triple up to win titles, players want to re-up every few years to take advantage of the rising salary cap. We are headed in the right direction, we just aren't there yet. This idea that fans have that it's a "privilege" to play here is BS. It's a job, sometimes it pays more than others, sometimes it pays less, sometimes it pays alot less but you're happier. Bit it's a job, no less no more.
I wish he would just commit to the Spurs already so we can move on. If he's waiting on Hou to pull some Sign and Trade for him or open cap space, I'll throw up a little bit in mouth.
Can't s*** the bed this summer otherwise next summer will be no different. Have to get some pieces that are attractive on the basketball side for future FAs.
Friggin DEANDRE JORDAN is looking down on us. Let's be real, he isn't even that good! His offensive game is almost exclusively dunking, he has a low BBIQ (who can erase the image of CP3 yelling at this dunce?), and makes Shaq look like a free-throw shooting savant. THIS GUY is laughing at our organization. What has become of the Laker brand? Yikes.
Hard to run data when Kobe's been injured for three years and your number one draft pick played 12 minutes. Of course Houston has great analytics when they have Harden puffing up stats
I'm still holding out hope for Deandre, Monroe, or Harris. But if not, I don't think we should splurge for "mid-tier" players. I say we go the same route as last year and try to get players to come for cheap for the minimum so that they can audition for a longer contract. I don't think striking out in free agency this year necessarily means we're screwed for next summer too. If we don't waste our cap space on roleplayers this year, then we can get 2 max players next year. That alone makes things our pitch next year a lot more enticing. And then being optimistic, by next year, Russel/Clarkson/Randle won't be question marks. They'll be proven NBA talent.
Yes...please don't throw ridiculous money at mediocre players just to make a move. Reasonable money for reasonable players is what we should be planning for.
I'm starting to feel a bit depressed now ... if we end up again with nothing this summer I hope Jim steps down immediately - this is ridiculous!
With our inability to lure FAs that then becomes another 1 year plan next year, the year after, and so on. What we're doing isn't working. That's never been more apparent. An empty roster is not attractive. How many lotto picks yall want to throw on one roster?
