I agree with this at some point you gotta build your own identity and step out of your dads shadow

Show these guys what you wanna build and how you plan to do it.

That's where i think mitch and co are failing too much past and not much future

What's all this talk on here about Lakers attracting top free agents??? The last top tier free agent the Lakers got was Shaq and that's close to 18 years ago.

We get people through trades. Lakers have never been a destination for great free agents.

New report says it was 2.5 hours today and 1.5 last night, but even so that's more time than anyone else. Unless our pitch to him is vastly different than Aldridge's, I say give him a cursory hello, no?, goodbye and go sign Monroe asap.

I still feel like we end up with DJ or Monroe ...

And if not just F it - bring an exciting young team, sign harris and a C and make a splash trade if it presents itself this year.

And for Kobe ... I feel bad for him how even with 20 years now in the league he still gets all the blame. Have a fun season and hang it up Kobe. Maybe they appreciate you more when you are gone. Who are they gonna write so much crap about when he's done?!

Yep, and B Scott is a big part of that. He's a mediocre coach thats behind the times. We need a coach that actually understands the modern game. Pop has been successful for so long because he has adapted his coaching to the modern NBA.

I hope we can at least get DJ. I mean, what the heck is so appealing about the Mavs? They have no assets. They lost two crucial players in Tyson and Ellis. They are old and declining. They got owned in the first round. Seriously, if the Mavs can make that team sound appealing, then the Lakers should do even better.

Yeah I don't blame them. I blame the FO for being in this situation though. And even more I blame them for not being prepared for this presentations in a way that the players relate to. It's been years and this is where the FO took the team. This summer was supposed to be their big step into the future and so far it's been a step into a pit.

All our chips needed to be on DJ from day 1. LMA wants to play PF and not get banged up against Centers. It's DJ or bust for me

Its almost like meeting with players actually hurts our chances and our reputation.

I'm still all for firing his a** and getting Thibs in here. He brings SIGNIFICANTLY more to the table than Scott does. I can't stress enough, when best player/coach/GM/Owner/Cheerleader/Usher becomes available, you ALWAYS have to be looking to acquire that talent. I don't care how many coaches we are currently paying, have fired, etc. you go get best available and tell everyone else to suck it.

Meaning we're f***ed. We have nothing good to say during that part of the presentation.

It does. We're the Lakers, San Antonio would need to win a championship every year for the next 11 years to be as good as us. No need to beg players to play here.

Time for the FO to pivot and stop wasting their time on long shots. We need mid level guys that can help this team improve so that we'll be in a better position next summer.
