Need to know more on this one. I wouldn't think you could invest in a team you're not playing for. And how much can you invest? This is LeGM's dream, he can invest enough to get majority control and build his roster.

The 3rd 2-way will be very helpful to us and our scouting department

Has anyone read “when” these new over the cap luxury tax rules actually kick in? Seems not fair to have them immediate for next season when teams had no way to know they were going to be happening and to plan accordingly for them according to each’s own finances and level of pain tolerance. I don’t know when the current contract ends. If this season then that looks exactly like what it would be. Unfair to big market and payroll owners.

I've heard it's gradual, but I don't know what that means or what aspects that's referring to.

    Some more stuff of note...

Yes we need clarification on the penalty tax stuff. But that last new one of being able, as one of those teams in the dreaded 2nd tier, if we are, and with our KILLER scouting department .... of being able to sign 2nd round picks to longer deals could really help with losing the TP MLE.

i like the 2nd round exception...but why extend that to super taxers? doesn't seem in keeping with the spirit of the rest of the changes. if i were a rich team, i'd harvest second rounders using those exceptions (for my 11-15 players) and just play the odds that i'm going to arenas/ginobili/boozer/jokic it at some point, right? maybe i'm missing something. but i thought the smartest innovation that the "great" daryl morey ever had was using space and exceptions to lock up 2nd rounders for years at low value by using space/exceptions. granted, his biggest success there--chandler parsons--sort of blew up in his face (his own fault, too). but still, i thought it was a good idea that other teams were late to consider. it later became so common that rob's being criticized for not doing that with austin reaves, as if the entire world knew he'd be this good this fast. but if you have unlimited funds, why not just always do it?

once he's back; they're basically the team that won it last year, and mem or sac is going to be pissed that their reward for the 2/3 seed is a first round date with them.

Draymond doesn't look that good to me anymore. He's still a very smart player, good defender, and the refs let him get away with more moving screens then anybody else in the league. Legit looks like you're watching a Eurobasket game with how much moving screens GS sets.

But he's not the all world defender particularly on the perimeter that he was and his offense man looks like trash. Wiggins helps their D a ton but outside of him and GPT: Klay, Curry, Pool, and even Draymond can be exploited.

Otto Porter was also pretty important for them last year too as another wing and they don’t have that guy anymore. Kuminga probably isn’t ready for that yet.

draymond has shown up big in a couple games i've watched this year, and i expect he's got something left in the tank, particularly given he's going into free agency.

divincenzo has been an adequate fill-in for porter, imo. they're dangerous as hell.

The new CBA should mostly be a positive thing for this Lakers franchise, since they are one of the last mom and pop type ownership groups. I wonder if they would be willing to go over the super tax though? If not, then they are going to have to make some crucial decisions. Reaves will likely get around 20 million next season, and Russell 30 million. It's imperative to bring both of them back. Lakers would then have to think hard about picking up Beasley's option, and may have to decide between Bamba and Rui. Schroeder and Brown more then likely will not be retained. Lakers could also try to get creative with unloading Reed and maybe the FRP if they want to go that route. Something like Reed and the pick to some team for multiple 2nds. Maybe we were going to pay over 179,500,000 in tax next season though, which means that the new CBA affects us in a negative way.

Reaves isn't getting 20 million dollars from anyone IMO. Russell might get his 30. Rui, Beasley and Bamba TBD

Yeah, hopefully those CBA changes will prevent some teams from offering reaves big money. I don't anticipate him getting quite that much, but I wouldn't be surprised. The prudent thing to do is to obviously prepare for the worse-case scenario. That's why I inflated the salary number. Nevermind, due to the Arenas provision, Reave's contract would likely be backloaded. So, we could be looking at a cap figure of around 11.4 million for Austin. I actually should of bumped up Dlo's a few million too. I just learned Reed is not guaranteed for next season, so that's good.

reaves basically can't get more than something near 12 next year unless we let him go. so there's no way he's on our books for 20 in any case. it's literally impossible. well--i guess we could let every FA walk, but we're not doing that.

i actually tend to agree that the new rules will help us. we haven't been in the very top rung of spenders--we let caruso walk over lux tax concerns, for christ's sake!! this will keep bkn, gs, and the clippers from having 15 million per 12th men AND cleaning up on the mini mle/buyout market every year.

    guarantee one of them sits

unfortunate because i had a good feeling about this one with no PG and no jackson/kennard to turn into curry and klay. i'm sure someone else like batum will end up going 9/9 from 3 though

They're playing and Lue has to know it. AR, go to work on Snake early. Sweep the kneee .... errr ..... work your put em on skates crossovers often, maybe like AD he can take himself out. ;) Your handles look more confident every game my man with requisite TOs notwithstanding. He pushes the envelope with "great" passing and tough attempted offensive moves often, and you'll get some.
