I was just looking on some resigned FA...
Wtf is happening...i know new salary cap will rise soon...
But some,i meane most contracts are insane...
For example, lopez getting 20mil per year??? He should had monster year for that contract, and i am not even sure, did he played or he was injured...thats about his impact for 20mil...even some end of the bench guys are geting 5-7 mil...wtf...
In that light i dont know what to think...
I would gladly take harris but i dont think him or monroe should get max..or close to the max...

    But he's right there. :D

The FO just doesn't seem to know how to connect to people. I know Laker writers are trying to spin it a little into "they work with what they have" but what they have, they built. This is the scenario they built for themselves and so far they're not making it look attractive. That's their job.

Im so tired for the Lakers talking about the past. Yes we have succeeded but it was a long time ago. We gotta sell these guys on how they will be used not how they will be used in comparison to past players. Gasol isn't exactly a phenomenal example, we got a trade revoked a year after winning a ring with him.

Interesting. Sign DJ with the current cap room we have. Moving Randle and pieces to Portland in a S&T for Aldridge.

Okay.. Let's all take a breath & recap. (optimism thread)

-LMA is more than likely going to SA, but not a done deal. More than likely wasn't best fit anyways.
-Love is resigning with CLE. Sorta knew that was going to happen.'Not best fit either.
-DJ, Monroe & Harris are still in play. All better fits IMO
-No MAX player means hopefully getting Davis Back.

C'mon now.. It's just day One..

That is a big problem right there, we can't tell how the meeting is received with the players.

So what the heck happened? I thought the meeting with Aldridge was a success? Now it wasn't impressive? Hate the drama with this. We need to at least get one star player. I always thought Aldridge was a long shot but I was really hoping for deandre Jordan or Tysons chandler. We need a mobile defensive minded center

For once I actually agree with him. But we will hear and read a billion things about this all being Kobe's fault.

Honestly, it sounds like we are just out of touch with what these guys are really after.

LA has never been a guy about being in the spotlight, or being a big personality or media entity. Having all these execs and media guys in their making pitches probably made us sound less serious about winning basketball, and more serious about him looking good. Not a good showing imo.

They better rethink their pitch to DJ if they want a chance.

    -Senior on team, bigger role.
-Plenty of plays run for him with the distributors we have.
    -Will build around him.

Yeah I mean that last report just makes it sound like the Lakers thought it went well because they didn't understand Aldridge's mentality. Are we out of touch or are we foolhardy? Is the pitch the same for every player?

I just feel like we aren't good salesman which is crazy because we're selling a great product.

One guy who I think would love to be here (and also play alongside Kobe) is Westbrook. However, I don't think that's feasible with us having Russ and Clarkson.

Completely agree. There is clearly something off with how we are going about this. The roster isn't helping and Kobe is never going to be a warm and fuzzy guy, but beyond that, it just sounds like we are expecting guys to be blown away by the bright lights of Hollywood and it's just not happening.

We need to focus in and really show these guys how we are moving the team back toward competing for titles.

That's how I read it too. Sounds like Aldridge wanted to hear about how we are going to actually win and compete and we were too busy showing him video messages from celebrities.

This is why I think we're better of going for guys like Harrris & Monroe.. Solid pieces to add to our young core that would attract Free Agents next year.. Baby Steps

Enough time to review and change our pitch to DJ?

LMA has never been known to want to be in the spotlight. He's also leaving Portland for a chance to contend. If Lakers based their pitch on his marketing and outside distractions then they are at fault and made a giant mistake. Pitch him on how the front office plans on building a contending team with him as one of the pieces.

That says a lot. Time to bring in some more young blood to help with this kind of stuff? Not sure...
