I too think most of his weaknesses have a larger affect on the team with LeBron out as well as when DLO’s shots aren’t falling. The same can be said about AD when LeBron is out: teams can’t double Davis that often when LeBron plays. I will always be a huge fan of guys who do the dirty work because they are a dying breed in this League and ignite their entire team (and us fans) with their hustle plays.
If he does what Ariza did in the 2008 off-season and shoot a million jumpers his value would shoot through the roof. At any rate he's easy to root for because he hustles.
I love him but he's got to tighten up on the dribble, passing, and got to the wide receiver drills. He's got a nice handle and passing feel to his game but if you're going to turn over the ball every other possession when your usage rate starts going up, not good
Really good D on Booker. Book only had made 3 buckets on him, when Vando sat Book put up 9 in a rush and that got him going for the rest of the second half.
We had some other players with flashier statlines, but I absolutely think Vanderbilt was the MVP of tonight’s game. Basically eliminated Booker from the equation whenever Vanderbilt was in the game. Pressured him full court nonstop, and intelligently positioned himself such that Booker never even really got the ball in legitimate attacking position against him
had some nice finishes in the paint, and yes, was outstanding as an individual defender on booker. i think his (and our) rebounding suffered because he was so busy with that assignment away from the paint, but i'll take it.
Booker went from shooting over a 6-2 guard to someone who has the bigger lenght and enough defensive savvy on him.
He was awesome guarding SGA IMO. SGA "created" 2-3 shots by a clear push extending his forearm which is supposed to be big no no. Instead the forearm shiver and the refs swalloed their whistles (thanks Monty Williams: f u). Lebron, AD, even Reaves do that and that gets called every single time. I wonder if they'll change the rules to allow for a challenge to that in the future?
Yeah, he plays really good defense. Can be a little challenged on offense, but he makes up for it with hustle. He really needs Bron to unlock his full potential.
No one has given Jarred flowers for the continuing promise of hopefully being able to knock down corner threes adequately to go with his high quality defense. Two more yesterday in the Bulls rematch.
I send him flowers after every win. You just aren’t in his hotel room or at his home to witness their beauty.
yeah, i was making that comparison a few weeks ago. he has a point about the era difference, though he might oversell it a bit. rodman's offensive deficiencies were things all his teams had to work with, but they did so mostly happily because he could do so many other things. vando's passing and cutting make him usable on offense with the right complements (i think we have those now), and his defense is just outstanding both on and off ball.
And another two 3s. On 100%. BTW... prime example why +/- stat is crap (unless it's for Brick). Vando was lowest on the team with -3
