This is probably true, but he works very well with 2 guards, Bron & AD, and that's the main thing.

I think he can be a 3 point threat, his stroke is smooth and has some touch on it, it doesn't look like a Westbrick 3 putting a dent in the backboard.

Can't have him sit in the corner on offense: ain't going to work against good defensive teams

He was good on BI tonight. Found himself in foul trouble though.

    He needs Bron. Desperately.

Before tonight's game, they dropped this in the LFR pod

    +40 with Bron
    -67 without Bron

He's key for us on defense. He's our guy that can guard the opposing team's best forward / guard.

    He's literally our Draymond

Such a great hustle player. Keeping things alive with his rebounding and playing rock solid defense.

his high iq and passing ability really help him stay in the game despite not being a shooter. he gets to spots where he's still a threat and keeps the ball moving and his body moving. breath of fresh air, again, compared to what was happening with the other guy.

Not gonna lie: as a longtime committed fan of DEFENSE, Vandy's play alone is a good reason to stay glued to the game. Speaking for myself.

Watch how often the opponent works to get the ball on the opposite side of the court from where he's playing.

He's becoming a problem in the half court offense - teams are playing him like Wesbtrook and if he's getting beat up on the boards not a great combo

Yeah, honeymoon period is starting to expire.

Still absolutely love the trade and the value we’re getting out of him, and I expect there will be certain matchups where he’s absolutely vital for us.

But he has a lot of legitimate limitations. For every game where he actually makes a corner three, there are 3-4 games where he can’t scratch at all. I could live with that, but his poor hands and finishing ability are pretty painful. Too many times where he’s making a great cut, the guard finds him for what would ideally be an easy dunk/layup, but he just fumbles it or can’t convert.

Again, still an awesome player. But he really needs to spend a lot of time this summer working with the development staff.

hes paid cheaply and been traded multiple times, theres good reasons for that. legit high lvl role player but made me cringe seeing you tube videos bout him being the missing piece or secret weapon for the team lol

He was definitely included in the trade for a reason. If Lebron makes it back his limitations won't be as glaring. We can play him to his strengths.

that reason is danny ainge isn't as smart as people think and utah didn't have stars for him to play off. then lebron got hurt and some of the same issues cropped up, as you said. he's still worth more than triple his salary as a 25mpg role player, imo.

wouldn't the argument that being traded means you're bad rest firmly on the idea that those were good trades?

I love his energy, basketball IQ, and his defensive instincts.

The lack of a jumpshot, boxing out, and poor hands as you've mentioned gets annoying OTOH. Right when you think he's going to punish the defense with a great cut he fumbles a pass or a putback and it's me yelling at the stream again. He's got a lot of Rodman in him but if I were the coaching staff I'd be doing wide receiver drills and boxing out technique.

His 24th b-day is in about 3 weeks. I see nothing but upside. You guys are right about his offense, but I see his game as a classic example of a sort of anti-Brick: Vandy does NOT fill up the stat sheet, but his overall play leads to wins. Stuff he does is hidden from the stat sheet. I will remain a hardcore Vandy advocate until I start to see a true damaging downside, and I still think the Rodman comps are fairly accurate. I love this kid.
