Lakers Draft Day Prospects June 22, 2023

Are there any decently strong big men 6’10 or up with development worthy upside coming out that might fall in that area of the picks?

 

it's interesting because the only big projected to go high (wemby aside) is like, 6'8" (walker from houston). i the next real big man prospect on most boards is the big stiff at duke. most mocks have almost no centers in them. the really huge guy from purdue (edey), who's very yao-ish. probably would have been high lotto 20 years ago and will be a second rounder now.

i think we're looking at 2nds and udfas for bigs. but tbh, with AD, bamba, and probably wenyen all under contract, we're probably ok with bigs. as i was complaining about in another thread, okc is running jaylin williams (who's 6'8" imo) at center and winning games.

lots of sf-types and big guards who aren't great shooters in this draft. feels like that's been the trend for a couple years, too.

i don't see anything worth where our first pick is. in the second round, davis's kid could be interesting as a brandon clarke lite type.

i'm still high on the other murray, tbh. they're identical twins. i can't stress this enough. if we're too high to draft him, we should trade down and take him.

 

kansas's jalen wilson is slated near our second round pick, and i like him as a potential 3 and d ish sf. his three hasn't fallen (33% on 5 attempts) but it looks good and his ft% (80) suggests he could improve there, too. got legit nba sf size.

 

His mocks are always a good read.

latest headline on KOC's mock was asking whether cason wallace is going to move up due to tournament play. we need him to stay in our range, he's the guy i want this year.

of course, we're probably wasting our time because our MO has been to trade these picks upon making them lately.
