Lebron won the title with 23. I think they should retire that number, not 6.

Aw man, the amount of league doom that came out of that trade was legendary, as was the thread on clublakers. Good times.

i lost count of how many "jerry west is helping the lakers!" takes i saw after that trade, despite the fact that jerry west was not the grizzlies GM anymore. hilarious

as bad as that trade may have looked on paper, it turned out to be a win for both teams. the lakers got 2 titles and the grizzlies became an annual playoff team with their addition of marc

Sorry honest question …. what is meaning of the award every year and who is the entity that picks the winner? Like does the name mean advocacy just for the WNBA and the WNBA will be the arbiter?

Lakers ball from Feb to June 2008 was one of the most enjoyable period as a fan .

His interior passing/chemistry with LO was great to watch

I f***ing love Pau. He got a lot of s*** toward the end of his tenure here (some deserved, some not) but he's really embraced being a Laker the last few years. The NBA really needs to put out a streaming platform with all past games, I would rewatch the entirety of the 08, 09 and 2010 seasons.

the only time he deserved the s*** he got was the 2011 playoffs when he completely folded. aside from that, those lakers teams from 08-10 never lost more than 2 games in a row if i'm not mistaken. that pretty much sums up how instrumental he was to their success. just wish his lakers tenure had ended better and not with d'antoni completely misusing him

To this day it still confounds me how anyone, let alone a pretty well-respected NBA coach with years of experience, could look at Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard and determine that Earl Clark needs to start instead.

Yeah I went ballistic about the D’Antoni hire. Folks were trying to talk me off the ledge at CL when it happened but I was having none of it. That was the worst hire of all time and it happened in the worst circumstances with Jim Buss stabbing Phil in the back and Jerry Buss passing away not long after. Then D’Antoni running Kobe into the ground and probably contributing to the Achilles injury. Just a complete $&@* show all around. I was furious.

I think we need to add damfony to the swear filter like we do with The Team That Cannot Be Named.

I know this is going to be unpopular…

    But if you gave D’antoni:

The version of Nash that played for Phoenix the very prior year, instead of the one that got a nerve injury that crippled him to the point of barely being able to run up and down the court

A Dwight Howard actually willing to feast on pick and rolls rather than trying to prove himself as a skilled post player

The Pau Gasol that ended up embracing and being decent at the “stretch 5” role later in his career

… that team wouldn’t have had to ride Kobe into the ground and could have been something special.

I know up until the Russ saga, that was seen as one of the most disappointing years in Laker history. But if I could go back in time, I probably still roll the dice on those same moves. Hindsight is 20/20. Unlike the Russ debacle, that fit on paper still made sense to me.

The way you put it, I don't disagree.

    But...

This is part of coaching though.
