I’d absolutely sign Stan back. No, he wouldn’t get time, but he’d be injury insurance, and I’m sure a good practice player to keep our guys sharp. He’s not getting time on any other playoff contender either, he’s a 12-15th man, but still valuable in the right situations. I don’t know if we can sign him though, Pincus seems very unsure.

my reading on that rule was that the one year was pretty unequivocal, but pincus said something about asignee or whatever that i don't recall reading in my previous glances at the rule. i trust he knows better than i, but i didn't see a loophole. which, again, is silly. this isn't the situation that rule was made for. not even close.

Johnson wouldn't get any burn with this roster. I'd sign him to a vet minimum over the summer though. I can see an intriguing defensive lineup, with Johnson, Vanderbilt, AD and Momba being unleashed on occasion. Death Star lockdown lineup.

Here's how I think the FO sees it:

-Bron, Rui and Vando are 4/3s
-Brown is their only traditional 3 but at 215 there's matchups he's not equipped for
-Beasley, LW, and Max are SGs
-AR is a 2/1/3 with this new squad

This explains us looking at wings until the clock expires at the deadline and our interest in wings in the buyout market. I think they want more insurance at the position who's good at either D or 3, probably not getting both as a buyout.

I like the idea of having enough big perimeter guys to throw at a player or team just to wear them down. We're the Lakers, someone is going to get hurt. And I could see Vanderbilt's style resulting in some foul trouble.

Ignore Slick then and proceed with acquiring Johnson if possible.

nobody's; but he'd be great to have in case of emergency. i prefer him to barton, for example.

i actually think the only place we're thin is pg, but i also think third string pg is one of the easier roles to fill. tons of talented small dudes in the g league every year.

feel like i've been consistent here: no. don't hate him; just don't think he's an nba player. i'll be thrilled to be wrong, though--and i'm betting against our scouts, who are pretty good at this game!

Lakers are looking for situational type players like a Ty Lue was when he served a purpose of guarding AI in the 2001 finals. Stan the Man could be used against wings like a Paul George, Booker type players if needed.

My only goal this season, and with the new acquisitions, we might have a bit of a chance to do it.

Where’s the win in that, having our own pick but they would still pick earlier either way unless we tie I guess. :speechless:

4 team GP2 trade is going to go through

I think it had to. You can't make it work with those guys going back to their original teams. In the off- season GS would've been able to get compensation back from Portland or give up fewer picks. But since the deadline has passed, they can't add/subtract from the deal. That's probably why GS was working with the league last night, hoping a fine or pick loss will come from their investigation into the Blazers.

The win is the damage done to our assets from the AD trade would be lessened and it would minimize the overpay.

Horrible business. Blazers need to be punished for dishonest dealings. If I’m the Warriors I’ll demand prima nocta!

Yeah and I totally missed which one of these people, that do it for a living, stated that the Lakers ever seriously entertained that silly a** proposal. Perhaps you can post it for me.
