i think monroe is our last hope for a top tier FA center. and i could see that boat sailing just as quickly as aldridge
What is the fascination with LMA and these other older veterans? Why can't we let Russell, Randle, and Clarkson (and the rest of the young guys) develop; that way, we will have a core of guys to build around in the years to come. We are not contending next year...even if we were to sign this top shelf talent. We need to think long-term and not "win now". We might have a solid foundation for the future and we need to give them a chance to show what they can do. My two cents.
Kate Upton is right, you guys. Please listen to this post. It's wise, and popsicles are delicious. (Slight chance I was slightly distracted by your avy)
Honestly for me it's not even getting the player, it's that we went all out and we weren't impressive? That's a huge bummer and a blow to morale. If we can't impress a 2nd tier star like Aldridge, we've got problems.
Im probably with you on this as well, I think it may a blessing in disguise. But with every other winning franchise patience is very thin among fans.
I'm not worried about LMA. If he wasn't impressed it's likely because he doesn't care about the market size, just wants to be the face of the franchise. He also probably expected us to gut our roster in an attempt to win now. I wanted LMA strictly for the momentum it would build, but the guy is not a superstar. He's one piece to the puzzle, not the main piece. After the grizzlies made him look like a hack in the playoffs, that much was clear to me. And I don't think this bodes poorly for nexr year either. We can throw out 2 max contracts with no roster shuffling needed. You put 2 max guys or 1 max and a few good role players and this team probably makes the playoffs in 2016-17. We weren't even supposed to be in the running with LMA so I'm not worried.
He didn't say Middleton. Ben is very high on MIddleton. He's an analytics dream. Ben knew he was going to get paid close to $15 million. No surprise there. That's why he didn't mention him.
