I’m not thrilled about it either, I remember him here and I have seen a decent amount of him in Minnesota. When he isn’t scoring he isn’t very engaged, he makes very lazy passes/bad turnovers, and he’s not really a big threat to drive, more of a mid-range shooter, plays zero defense as well. I’ve heard it speculated we’d want him to sign and trade in the off-season, so who knows. Vinay K on Twitter spaces a bit ago speculated maybe it’s a way to repair our relationship some with CAA as well, Russ would get to maybe shine a little more here, man I wish we had a shrug emoticon here I need that today. This is the sort of stuff I’m seeing

Up to DLO to do his part …. suddenly next couple hours switch to Klutch and let it be known he will walk in the summer from any team not named Lakers. Since this guy is gone:

Russ and a 1st for DLO? Screw that. It's not like we gonna resign him. I rather just send Russ home and save a pick.

Some how if we can give up one pick, protected, and you get DLO, Vando and Beas...that's a damn good trade. About as good as you could hope for. I mean the Nets were about to swindle us for 2 unprotected picks, christie, reaves, a pick swap, I mean ...that woulda been catastrophic and we would only be getting Kyrie likely not anybody else. At least in this deal it's filling up the roster with actual NBA rotation level players that we lost in the Russ trade to begin with.

If this is the case just deal with the Jazz straight up, Conley instead of Russ. Then trade Bev/Lonnie for someone else

That doesn’t convey what I’m trying to get across today. That says like “sorry, too bad”, or “can’t help you”, I’m trying to say s***, I don’t know man”. The iPhone shrug dude says that, as do some others I’ve seen, but this one for me doesn’t.

Yeah I’m not giving up 2 firsts for Russ, Beasley and Vanderbilt. Just do Conley instead of Russ for 1 pick, don’t complicate this. Why does Minnesota even do this if all they get is Conley for Russ?

Any chance we could flip Conley or DLo for Rozier?

Conley is actually decent and a good mentor to pair with Edwards?

I’m obviously biased because I would like to see this deal done with only one outgoing FRP, but I actually think I might do a DLo for Conley swap if I was in Minnesota’s shoes.

Conley has familiarity with Gobert and DLo is likely leaving in free agency anyways because I don’t think Minnesota wants to invest in him long term with looming extensions for Edwards. Conley under control for 2 years probably makes more sense for Minny than extending DLo OR letting him walk for nothing.

There is probably an overall talent drop off from Russell to Conley at this juncture of his career, but not enough to justifiably demand a first rounder. I think maybe a few second rounders should get it done. Can’t see Minnesota getting much more than Conley and some seconds for a DLo rental.

But as I’m writing this I’m realizing, well we might as well have that same outlook. If Minnesota tries playing hardball, just cut them out of the equation and take Conley if you can get the Utah deal done with only one pick.

He’s also old as hell. I mean if they’re willing to give up Russ for that little you’d have to wonder why..

If we send 2 picks in a deal where both main players are expiring, that's obviously stupid, especially when it doesn't make us exponentially better. At that point it's best to just wash the season and rebuild.

If it's one pick, somewhat protected? I'm down. The Beasley, DLo, Vanderbilt package may be worth it considering LeBron's age.

It's definitely tough. I keep going back and forth. One part of me wants to ride this era out and start over. But we have LeBron. I don't care what anyone says, he's close to as dangerous as any player in the league in a 7 game series. Not to mention, AD was a borderline favorite for MVP before he got hurt.

Russ was the biggest obstacle. He can get to rim, create space, etc. But LeBron has always thrived with spacing. Replacing him with two dudes that can shoot, and are confident shooting? That's a monster addition.

I'd prefer this deal if we didn't have to win like 65% of games going forward. But I can easily talk myself out of that...

This move is not only for this year - but next year as well, given the Pels own our pick next year (or they can defer to 2025).

We HAVE to try to be competitive next 2 years unfortunately. Especially while we still have LeBron/AD playing at this level.
