This. How can Jeanie say she doesn’t want to do a trade that will set us back, and then this is what we are rumored to be doing? Russell is extremely up and down, one of those low motor type guys, he’s not going to help our defense, like for real? We wouldn’t trade both picks for Hield and Turner but we would for Russell and Beasley!? No, there’s no way, I’d rather just keep Russ and let his contract expire.

I don't think ppl realize just how BAD russ actually is.

DLO is a MASSIVE upgrade over Russ...

Beasley is also a bigger 2-guard in the mold of a KCP.

Vanderbilt is a 3/4 that we desperately need...having him AND Rui now adds to the size component that we've been missing.

I think this would be a massive upgrade if we're able to get all these guys but also hoping we can flip BEVERLEY for someone too so that we don't have to endure DLO/Bev/Schroder lineups!!!

This really hinges on the picks involved and protections IMO.

potentially catastrophic if we can't extend DLo for a reasonable amount.

Depends on the picks to see if this is a good move. Not a big fan of Russell, but he's better than Westbrook

I want to Bev and Prince included in this.

sure these guys could upgrade the offense, but what's the point if the defense is still s***?

Beasley isn’t in the mold of KCP. He doesn’t defend and is a chucker.

D’Lo is an expiring and I’m not sure he likes us very much, if he is coming in to play off the bench I believe he packs up and leaves in the off-season.

If we’re sending out two picks for this, we’re sinking the ship for this decade once Lebron and AD sail off into the distance.

If it’s only 1 of our firsts it’s a reasonable gamble for sure, but if it’s both, for a really up and down player that doesn’t play defense and 2 role players? No thanks, that screws us over big time. And this is Danny Ainge we’re talking about, how will it not be both? I guess as it’s being reported it doesn’t make much sense to me based on the criteria we’ve heard for trades all year, doesn’t move the needle much for me, doesn’t make us contenders. We can already score, we put up 130 last night, we can’t defend to literally save our playoff lives though.

Nobody plays defense anymore. Its all about outscoring to the extreme now.

Is it possible we have this AND an AD package in the works? I can’t shake how weird he was last night.

DLO, Beasley/Vanderbilt... hmmm, 1 pick? I can't say I am THRILLED about it, but I'd probably do it. It's an improvement. If DLO re-signs and the price is right. Sure, sounds resonable.

I don’t think so, I think the Lakers want to keep AD. I also don’t think we’d have been able to keep it quiet if we were shopping him.

Honestly none of this will matter if Ham continues to play Schroder/Bev though and continues to play 3-guard lineups.

If Ham isn't r*******, he will start D-Lo, Reaves, Vanderbilt, LeBron and AD. Off the bench he'll have Schroder, Beasley, Walker, Rui and Thomas Bryant. We could further upgrade the roster if we trade Bev/Walker though for Bogdonavic...

We currently have no one on the roster (besides James- 2.2) who is making 2 3-point shots per game- we would be getting two players who are making over 3 in this trade.

Not to mention we would be adding two 6'4 guards that would hopefully be joining Austin Reaves comeback (6'5) and replacing all three of Russell Westbrook (6'3), Dennis Schroder (6'3) and with any luck Patrick Beverley (6'1)....as well as adding the 6'9 Vanderbilt.

So just on size alone the defense will improve, especially if Vandy can join Rui as guarding some quicker and longer swings and Ham uses him that way.

Now look for the best package for PatBev+Lonnie, preferably a 3 and D guy and/or another shooter

    PF Rui Hachimura/Jarred Vanderbilt/Wenyen Gabriel
    SF LeBron James/OPEN/Troy Brown Jr.
    C Anthony Davis/Thomas Bryant
    SG Malik Beasley/Austin Reaves/Max Christie
    PG D'Angelo Russell/Dennis Schroder

Just notice Woj’s tweet included “Jazz remain engaged elsewhere on Conley too”.

We usually operate in silence like the Rui trade. Sure the DLo element to this framework is new, but we’ve been linked to the Jazz for quite a while.

And maybe things get more complicated in a multi-team trade where buyouts may be in play, so that can explain things leaking.

But I don’t know, if this trade doesn’t get done soon within the next few hours I kinda get the feeling that it’s smoke

    We will see.

I think for sure Russ is gone though even if we have to move on to another deal.

That's a problem with Ham really, there's nothing we can do about it, except trade Bev for pretty much anyone at this point. If Ham played him correctly, he'd actually be quite useful, like him or not.

With this potential deal, we get a much better shooter in DLO who is creative, can pass and run offense very well. He plays no D, but compared to Russ it's a wash. The other two guys are massive upgrade on defense for us, we get the ability to defend multiple positions easily, and Malik can actually shoot from outside, just like D'Angelo can. Just a clear team improvement overall in terms of

    • Defense
    • Shooting
    • Depth

I mean, that's what we actually need, right?
