sure I do, you believe utah tried to fleece Rob in Bogdanovic trade but yet he was able to do the tht trade while supposed 2 unprotected 1st request by Ainge for Bogdanovic turned into Saban Lee/Olynx

1 for Lakers hating Ainge tax for Bogdonovic and 1 for no one, especially Ainge, wanting to help Lakers off Russ tax. Those are wild myths to you?

i wanted conley all summer and heard this a lot around here. he's been good this year, and i wanted him for the reasons utah doesn't want to dump him and for the reasons he's not really pushing for anything. i'd hoped that in the summer, he and utah would just agree that he's older and wanted to win, but apparently, he just likes playing ball and collecting big checks. and that's ok.

they just don't fit the pitchfork, thus can't be true.

Conley's three point shot has dipped this year, but even at 36% he will help our spacing compared to Russ. Not to mention we would be trading Conley's brain in crunch time for Russ'.

Give me one of these routes. We are not the paparazzi, we need to stop chasing stars. I also don't think that Mavs, Knicks, Hornets, or the Raptors will try to intentionally f*** us in a deal.

Spurs will 100%, Pop will not lose a trade to the Lakers in his final year. No way. And Ainge and the Jazz... not even worth speaking to that Leprechaun.

Jeanie and Cuban are friends, I don't think he'll let us ever get near Luka but I think he'd operate fairly regarding his role players. Knicks aren't in any position to further piss off the fans or media with their front office shenanigans and we haven't heard of any funny business with their trade negotiations (they just go hire their target's dad to be on the staff and use face identification tech at the arenas). Charlotte has Mitch and he's the only non-tampering GM in the league. Jeanie and MJ are business partners, so I don't think he'll risk that. Them thinking Plumlee is worth a 1st was crazy, but if the rest of the league is asking a 1st for their assets at the time, Mitch has to fall in line. Then my only concern with the Raptors is Masai Ujiri is seen as one of the smartest execs out there and that he's playing chess and Rob is playing paint by numbers using finger paint.

@lakerjones and I have been proponents of a Utah deal since the summer. Conley and Bojan would’ve been nice IMO. Not sure what a deal would like with them now.

Gotta think we’re looking more at the Raptors and Hornets at this point. If we can find a path to Trent and either FVV or Rozier, then the front office can at least say they’ve loaded up some solid younger players with skills we need.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. It will have to be Raptors and Hornets. If that fails, then... we just roll with what we have. Although I am not sure the word "roll" is very accurate at this point.

Now that I've calmed down a bit after missing out on Kyrie, there are still some good options out there. A Conley/Beasley/Vanderbilt package would be really nice but it seems unlikely after that Tony Jones piece. Charlotte would be fine with me too, I like Rozier and I wouldn't mind taking on Hayward if we're not adding any FRPs. He's an expiring next year and there's a small chance he can stay healthy for a year and be exactly what we need. I like Trent Jr. too and he seems gettable. I like FVV, but he seems more like a final piece to add to an already contending team (i.e., Clippers).

The Kyrie Hail Mary shot to contend this year is gone, but there are still opportunities to keep building this time and make the most of the limited assets we have.

Ya, if the Lakers want any chance of competing this season, Westbrook has to be dealt....I have little to no faith that Ham will take him out of the rotation if he is still here....and I could see LBJ asking for more days off just because Westbrook is here as well....

So any trade involving Westbrook means a multi-player endeavor....so here is options A through E on teams who "might" be inclined to trade with us.....although I still see the Raptors and Bulls as more of longshots...

    A) Trade with the Utah Jazz:

    Lakers get:

    PG Mike Conley

    SG Malik Beasley

    PF Rudy Gay

    C Kelly Olynyk

    Jazz get:

    PG Russell Westbrook

    SG Lonnie Walker

    G/F Juan Tascano-Anderson

    C Damian Jones

    2023 2nd round pick

    2027 1st round pick (protected)

Analysis- Ainge is probably wanting both first round picks for Jordan Clarkson to be involved in the trade even if he is an expiring deal, so the Lakers move away from asking for him. Each of the four players the Lakers do add have second year contracts- with Conley and Olynyk’s being partially guaranteed and Beasley’s is a team option while Gay’s is a player option for $7 million that he most certainly will exercise. It is because the Lakers take on all that money in why ultimately the cost is just one protected 1st round pick and a 2nd. Rudy is pretty much washed up but the other three bring shooting to the Lakers (Conley and Beasley are career 38% shooters and Olynyk at 37) and definitely improve the depth. Conley isn’t the player he once was, but can still be a reliable defender and hit the occasional jumper, Beasley brings athleticism and Olynyk spreads the floor even more so than Bryant does.

Trade Dollars- 57.6M to 57.2M (almost a dead even swap)

    PF Rui Hachimura/Kelly Olynyk/Wenyen Gabriel

SF LeBron James/Troy Brown Jr./Rudy Gay

    C Anthony Davis/Thomas Bryant

    SG Malik Beasley/Austin Reaves/Patrick Beverley/Max Christie

    PG Mike Conley/Dennis Schroeder

    (B) Trade with Toronto Raptors:

    Lakers get:

    PG Fred VanVleet

    SG Gary Trent Jr.

    PF Chris Boucher

    SF Otto Porter Jr.

    Raptors get:

    PG Russell Westbrook

    SG Lonnie Walker V

    C Damian Jones

    F/G Juan Tascano-Anderson

    2027 1st round pick

    2029 1st round pick

Analysis- This is a trade that does in fact have the Lakers not only trading both of their first round picks but also taking some contracts back in the process. They get immediate upgrades however at both guard spots in nabbing the 28-year old VanVleet and the just turned 24-year old Gary Trent Jr. VanVleet is a true leader on the court with good vision and both he (career 38%) and Trent Jr (39%) are volume shooters to boot. Both have player options for next season but figure to opt out and look for long-term deals, so the Lakers will have to pony-up to keep them both. The cost is also high in not only sending both first rounders but also taking on the contracts of Boucher, who has 2 years and $23 million left on his deal and Porter Jr who has a 6.3 million player option which he may exercise since he is out for the season with a broken foot.

Trade Dollars- $57.6M to 57.4M (almost dead even swap)

    PF Rui Hachimura/Chris Boucher/Wenyen Gabriel

SF LeBron James/Troy Brown Jr/Otto Porter Jr.*

    C Anthony Davis/Thomas Bryant

    SG Gary Trent Jr./Austin Reaves/Patrick Beverley/Max Christie*

    PG Fred VanVleet/Dennis Schroeder

    (C) Trade with the Charlotte Hornets

    Lakers get:

    PG Terry Rozier

    SF Gordon Hayward

    PF P.J. Washington

    C Mason Plumlee

    Hornets get:

    PG Russell Westbrook

    SG Patrick Beverley

    F/G Juan Tascano-Anderson

    C Damian Jones

    2025 2nd round pick

    2027 1st round pick (protected)

Analysis- This is about the only deal I would do that would send one protected 1st round pick to the Hornets AND taking on Hayward’s contract. Truth is, as bad as Westbrook’s contract is it is still an expiring one and isn’t near as bad as Haywards’ who has had trouble staying on the court, is having his worse shooting season of his career and is still owed 30 million for 2023. The addition of Washington (career 37% from distance) and to a lesser extent Plumlee though would probably entice me to make the deal. Of course we would be committing to Rozier at the point for the next 3 seasons at about 25 per (partial guarantee in year 3) but he is another volume shooter (also career 37%) we would be adding. I would insist on them taking Jones and the first round pick being protected however while we include a 2nd rounder down the road…

Trade Dollars- $66.4M to $64.1M (2.3 million difference)

    PF Anthony Davis/Rui Hachimura/Wenyen Gabriel

SF LeBron James/P.J. Washington/Troy Brown Jr.

    C Thomas Bryant/Mason Plumlee

SG Austin Reaves/Lonnie Walker V/Max Christie

    PG Terry Rozier/Dennis Schroeder

    (D) Trade with the San Antonio Spurs

    Lakers get:

    SG Josh Richardson

    SF Doug McDermott

    F/C Zach Collins

    Spurs get:

    PG Russell Westbrook

    C Damian Jones

    F/G Juan Tascano-Anderson

    2023 2nd round pick

    2027 2nd round pick

Analysis- This is the one trade the Lakers might be able to make by moving Westbrook’s contract WITHOUT having to attach a 1st round pick (instead they send out (2) 2nd rounders). Spurs would ask the Lakers to take on the guaranteed and non-guaranteed second years of McDermott (13.8M) and Collins however (7.7) while they absorb Westbrook’s money into their remaining cap space. I doubt Collins would play much, but both Richardson (career 37%) and McDermott (career 41%) can shoot and all three gives the team more size. A modest trade that would help depth wise, but not likely put them into serious contention

Trade Dollars: Spurs would absorb over $18 million in the deal with their cap space

    PF Rui Hachimura/Wenyen Gabriel/Zach Collins

SF LeBron James/Doug McDermott/Troy Brown Jr.

    C Anthony Davis/Thomas Bryant

    SG Josh Richardson/Patrick Beverley/Lonnie Walker/Max Christie

    PG Dennis Schroeder/Austin Reaves

    (E) Trade with the Chicago Bulls:

    Lakers get:

    SG Zach Lavine

    PG Lonzo Ball

    SF Derrick Jones Jr

    2026 2nd round pick

    Bulls get:

    PG Russell Westbrook

    SG Patrick Beverley

    SG Max Christie

    2027 1st round pick

    2029 1st round pick

Analysis- What would it take for the Bulls to seriously trading Lavine? Proabbly someone who would take on the headache that is Lonzo Ball. Question is would the Lakers do it, as well as trade the best 3 assets they have (2 first round picks and Max Christie) just to get Lavine on board?? Ball, with still no real timetable on his return is still owed $20.5 million for next season and has a $21.5 million player option for the following one, one that is looking pretty good right now for someone who has played a total of 35 games for the Bulls in two seasons in Chicago. Lakers would get a defensive minded Jones in the deal as well as a 2nd round pick but it is still a risky trade even while including the multi-talented 28-year old Zach.

Trade Dollars- $61M to $59.8M (barely over a million in difference)

    PF Rui Hachimura/Wenyen Gabriel

SF LeBron James/Derrick Jones Jr/Troy Brown Jr.

    C Anthony Davis/Thomas Bryant

    SG Zach Lavine/Austin Reaves/Lonnie Walker V

    PG Dennis Schroeder/Lonzo Ball

The C Bags are probably the best team in the league already, that would be a pretty ballsy move. I find it unlikely that the Nets are shopping KD right now after they just prioritized players > picks in the Kyrie trade.

I think the Rui trade was pretty significant. He is a starting forward for us now and looks to have potential to be very good.

Good moves all. Of them but In all of them we don't add frontcourt help except Toronto (boucher)/ hornets plumlee(I'd start plumlee and bring Thomas off bench for energy scoring

CAN CONFIRM. I was at the zoo with my daughters when I got the news. I called my brother-in-law who's a big time Mavs fan and said "hey I can't talk, just wanted to make sure you saw Kyrie got traded to the Mavs." There was a very long audible groan, followed by a sigh, and then a nice loud expletive before he hung up the phone.
