They'd get Poetl, Richardson and have the most cap space in the league next year if Durant wants stay or if he goes they prep themselves nicely for the future.
Not sure what I would do with the Nets: they have a real shot at the title if you could trust Kyrie but the dude is such a f***up I think it's time to get out of this mess. Similar to the Lakers it makes sense to use that contract as an asset at least and not get anything plus the Simmons contract is a real albatross: it's like the Lakers are stuck with a worse version of Brick for 3 more years!

you want to be GS getting D'Angelo and no Dallas with Brunson? Don't know but for the first time these trades seem to make sense for the teams involved

Yeah this thing Mr Rambis brought up about the Nets being pissed off and Kyrie's peeps should contact teams and scare them, hell, that stuff has been going on for ages and you can be damn straight Kyrie's word about not being a good team mate and bailing come summer will be taken very seriously. The Net's options are to offload him now or let him walk in summer.

If he were to walk, now I'm confused on something, if we lose or dump Rui's rights, quickly resign Max and Jones, erasing any cap holds (and assuming Jones takes his option), our salary is 89 million and the cap is 134. Shouldn't we have 45 million? (Maybe get Rui to take the MLE). Max salary in '23-'24 for a 10+ year player is $46,900,000. Not sure Kyrie should even get that unless it's like a 2-year deal.

    LeBron James $46,698,737
    Anthony Davis $40,600,080
    D Jones $2,586,665
    M Christy $1,719,864

Well-put. I agree. I wasn't on this board at the time - didn't even know about it - but the day we got Russ I said to myself, "WHY???" I NEVER thought he'd be a good fit with us. Also, while I admired his legendary ability to fill up the stat-sheet, I didn't see him as a winner and his personality bugged me. But, of course, as a Laker fan, he's now on the team, so I tried to pretend he'd be great, we'd win another ring, etc.

I don't like Russ. But I don't hate him. He's pissed me off so many times since he's been with us, but I do see him as a fascinating, compelling person. In a weird way, he "earns" his money by having to face the press when he sucked a** in a game. He doesn't handle it well. All of us wonder how we'd handle it if we were in his shoes, but naw: it can't be pleasant. "He gotta man up. He sucked! He's getting PAID, but he can't deliver. End of story!" Which seems too easy to me.

Imagine you're really good at something and are paid ridiculously, insanely well for doing it. Then you get transferred to a firm that is in your desired geographical area. But then: no matter what you do, your powers/skills don't work as well anymore. The mix ain't right. The spotlight is too harsh. Everyone wanted to love you, you wanted to be loved, and none of that happened. You begin to have doubts about yourself, but immediately shoot them down in your mind: I'm a future Hall of Famer. I averaged a triple-double over three different years. No one's seen that. And, when you make a good play, you say to yourself, "Still got it!" Then you make some bad plays and the customers boo you. Which cuts deep in your psyche. Gotta harden myself to this.

Yea, you got money for life, you're gonna get paid, but the emotional costs are rough. You begin to think a transfer would unburden you. Russ's situation overall here is fascinating to me. But as a fan, I want him gone LAST SEASON.

By "declined" we mean, of course, laughing out loud, "Are you effing kidding me? Get the hell outta here with this crap! Who gave you our number? Is this a 'Do you have Prince Albert in a can?' thing?"

LOL, that's not 70 million in one year. Dort earns $15 million per year. There is no realistic way for us to trade Westbrook to OKC. Here is a link to the ESPN NBA Trade Machine. Play around on it and see for yourself.

Yea, the money's nowheres near correct for it, but there was a time - around this time last year - that some of us would dump Russ, anywhere, for a case of Red Bull and some chips.

Eyes on the prize: possibly the greatest player who's ever played is on our team, he's 38 and desperately wants to win NOW. Lou Dort ain't gonna get it done, even if the money was right.

Just leveled with myself. I had a few things to get done today - errands 'n emails and a phone call I should make - but since I found out both Kyrie and Russ aren't suited-up for action for..."reasons"...I'm not going anywhere. I can't concentrate on anything until something happens.

Or I should say: Something Happens. My gawd. Feel like a schoolkid. Like "Will Santa bring me the thing I asked for?" There are times when it feels kinda crazy to be a fan.

Guys: keep putting effort into your posts, 'cuz a lot of us are reading today.

If we could get both Kyrie and Trent, we are back to contender status. A trade like that fixes a lot of problems (shooting, additional playmaker, Trent just needs to be a capable defender) with this team and gives us the depth we need to win it all.

I just don’t know how the Lakers pull it off. We will likely need to use 1 pick to goto a 3rd team to take on Westbrook, 1 pick to Brooklyn?

What/how do we convince Toronto with to give up Trent?

There are teams who may be willing to risk trading for a player who claims they will leave later in FA. This threat is not as strong as it once was. The unique position Irving has though, is that he has a history of controversy and the ability to turn himself into a toxic asset for a team. I know for certain LAL is willing to take that gamble (see my previous posts), and this may be their edge during this debacle.

Three team deal is generally what I would expect to play out, if something happens. But there are many moving pieces here. You obviously have a now unhappy Durant, a BKN management team that is still trying to see if keeping the core together is viable, and a handful of hungry teams looking to upgrade. Having been in this business a while, I know for a fact that teams don't like to hand out stars on silver platters... especially to the Lakers! After all, stars bring value beyond a basketball sense. They drive ticket revenues, marketing promotions, and generate more business interest. Yes, even Irving, despite his faults!

Of course, the fan in me is very excited! Have my phone beside me right now just waiting for an update!!!

Worse version of Brick? Not bloody likely. On the court, Kyrie has already proven he can come up huge on the biggest stage, alongside LeBron, the dude he may be teaming up with again. He’s a good shooter, can dribble around just about everyone in the League, can pass and did I mention he’s Clutch? He fits perfectly with this team. As for the off court drama, it’s a mess, but if he’s traded here, and we stay healthy, the Lakers are going at least to the Finals.
If Russ stays, there’s a real chance we lose in the play in game. That’s not hyperbole.

All fair and valid points. My answer: Boo-Hoo. Suck it up and be a man. Be a professional. Stop acting like the forever coddled child you still are.

Yea. A coddled child who has $91 million - just over the last two seasons! - piled up all over the room, building a money-fort in his living room.
