An F for the factual reporting of what took place so fixed it, but yes agree and hope that doesn't happen as well. ;)

Not sure where these internet reports get generated. There must be some Fake Report Factory that goes into action every trade deadline.

There is no way I can see for OKC to get close to Westbrook’s salary without including Holmgren and Giddey and there is no way that’s happening.

Hollinger wrote about 9 possible destinations for Kyrie and what each deal could look like. It's a long read, so I'll just post the list of teams and then the Lakers write up.

    NOP
    Hawks
    Bulls
    Heat
    Mavs
    Suns
    Raptors
    Clippers
    Lakers

Kyrie, Harris, and Trent is certainly interesting.

From the tidbits I'm gathering, BKN knows Irving wants to go to LAL, and given how they were blindsided and have been dealing with various Irving off the court issues, they are not inclined to do him any favors. As I mentioned earlier, LAL was all but shut down in their inquiry yesterday. The door is not at all closed, but will require some creativity.

If I were in Irving's camp, I would be spreading the word to other teams attempting to scare them into not only thinking that Irving would be unwilling to resign in a non-LAL destination, but also that he would likely cause problems if unhappy. Given Irving's history, that threat is more than plausible. I would be on the lookout for these sorts leaks. In the meantime, I will let you know if anything comes my way, but so far, nothing.

Take care and enjoy your weekend everyone!!!

I have a feeling the Clippers could be lurking for Kyrie. I don’t think they have any draft assets but they could offer some variation of Kennard/Covington/Norm Powell/Terrence Mann that would be useful pieces to Brooklyn.

If I was Brooklyn, I would rather have the draft picks.

I don’t mean this in a d*** way, but if you’ve got money man it doesn’t fix everything. People tweeting at you that you should die for not living up to their expectations isn’t just “hey I’m rich so literally nothing sucks”.

Especially when it seems like he's weak mentally. I felt bad for him, unless he pulled the biggest scam ever.

I think there are levels to that, mentally. It’s one thing to deal with the day to day trash that people in the spotlight deal with. This dude was trending literally every game and was pretty much unanimously hated by the fan base.

Don’t get me wrong, his play was terrible and frustrating. People just cross the line wayyyyy too frequently.

Yeah I posted 2 days ago he might be getting close to having used up his goodwill coming off the bench if he had many more awful in game in crunch time moments that looked like or were definitely going to cost a game while we're hanging on a thread, to set off the boo birds again at home. And that's just ugly for his family and for him.

i don't get the "nets are mad and so won't deal irving to lakers" angle. i mean, they've had several months to hash things out there; they can't be surprised that when they once again failed to offer him the extension he wants, that he demanded out. and they can't be surprised that he wants to go to the lakers. and they can't be surprised that he might use his impending FA as a way to limit suitors.

moreover, they can't just risk letting him walk in the summer--to us or anyone else because they're so far over the cap that they can't replace him. and we do still have 32 million in cap space.

anyway, i doubt they're being this petty about it. that would work against their own interests. my guess is they're trying to see how high another team will go for a rental/raptors-kawhi gambit (side note--would be funny if derozan were dealt in such a scenario again). i don't think teams will go that high. miami's going to throw lowry at them, phx probably crowder and cam johnson or something, dallas probably THJ/dinwiddie. but bkn's taking on money in all those scenarios while getting worse.

so it's on to three-team deals, which i think is what's happening right now, discussion-wise. my dad thinks kyrie's going to stay and end up signing in bkn, but i don't think so. the summer was different. there was a lot more time, and he had less leverage.

Interesting 3 way speculation where the picks are split between the Nets and SA and SA takes on Simmons contract with the Lakers getting Irving. This actually seems like it would be tempting if I was the Nets.

That Simmons contract looks to be the worst in the league by far: lots of years left, max, for a player who seems like he has PTSD when a basketball is around him

but do they then move durant? i know simmons has been bad for them, but durant would be in a luka situation over there, and i don't think he can do that at his age.
