What a coincidence, right? "The question now remains as to what that one move could possibly be."

I think their assumption was this summer and they were going to work on a s&t at that time. Not during a championship run.

Also, looks like we still like Rozier.

In Fischer’s article about Kyrie destinations is the little nugget

Russ makes no sense to the Nets.

Either it's a 3 or 4 team deal, someone who can receive Russ and give a type B superstar to the Nets or I don't see it happening.
The expiring is the same, so they win more in rolling until the summer and hope Kyrie changes their mind than getting the pick and punting the season and future flexibility in Durant's prime.

Vanvleet and someone else would make sense to Brooklyn. But I don't think Russ at Toronto makes any sense to the Raptors. It's a tough one

Russ for Toronto makes sense if they want to go into tank mode

If it's 1 FRP, plus Westbrook and Walker, i'm doing that with ZERO hesitation. To me, the only lost would the pick. Walker is good, but like Malik Monk, I feel these kinds of microwave scoring guards can be easily found on the market for the MLE and well, Westbrook is Westbrook. No lost there.

I thought maybe Toronto could have gone for Durant at the start of the season. Something like FVV and Gary Trent Jr plus picks for Durant. A core of Barnes, Durant and Siakam is pretty great.

Maybe we could have facilitated that trade and sent then something like Bev and Lonnie Walker plus a pick for OG to better balance their roster out.

In an ideal world we do a three team trade:

LAL in: Kyrie, Harris and OG
LAL out: Russ, Bev and Lonnie plus two unprotected firsts and a second

TOR in: Durant, Bev and Lonnie and LAL’s 2nd
TOR out: FVV, Gary Trent Jr and OG plus two unprotected firsts

BKN in: FVV, Gary Trent Jr, Russ, 2 unprotected LAL 1sts and 2 unprotected TOR 1sts
    BKN out: Durant and Kyrie

This is a pipe dream, but what do you guys think?

The nets basically get 2 solid young players, a huge expiring in Russ and 4 unprotected firsts for Durant and an expiring Kyrie.

The raptors only have to give up 2 firsts for Durant instead of 4, and get some guard help back that can shoot. They give up two young players that they’d have to resign for a large amount and sacrifice OG.

We get shooting and wing defence.

    Kyrie / Schroeder
    Harris / Reaves
    OG / Brown Jr
    Lebron / Rui
    AD / Bryant

Does anyone else hate Tim Bontemps lol, he's on the Hoop Collective going on and on about how we can take on Ben Simmons with Kyrie and send both 2027 and 2029 unprotected or we're not getting him. Already hated his voice.

In a scenario like that I’m willing to send the picks out, take on Harris’ contract, pack Russ’ bags and roll the dice on us meshing in time for the playoffs.

Brooklyn would still be a solid playoff team in my opinion:

    FVV / Russ
    Trent Jr / Curry
    Royce O’Neale / TJ Warren
    Simmons / Watanbe
    Claxton / Markieff

And Raptors would be a contender:

    Bev / Flynn
    Lonnie /
    Barnes /
Durant / Boucher / Thad Young
    Siakam / Precious

They’re a bit short at guard, while the nets are short at PF and C so maybe they can swap an extra player like Mills for Boucher. But it could work.

I kinda wish the Kyrie stuff didn't become public so that Rob could do this one quietly.

Now the price will be higher as a result cuz Nets will use other teams as leverage to get the MOST out of the Lakers.

Either way - if Lakers want this to happen, Kyrie will be a Laker. Magic already co-signing it is HUGE given he still has Jeanie's ear.

    TT the power broker

On the flip side, we can use it as leverage against Utah, Detroit, Charlotte, etc that we don't have to pay their draft pick tax. We can go Kyrie hunting for both picks (even if it's a bluff) because he's told a lot of people he wants to be in LA.
